DeVANS Modern Breweries has entered into a production agreement with Vairagi Brewery in UP’s Barabanki, further expanding its production capacity by 24,000 KL, which amounts to 2 million cases per year, company officials said.
The halt in production comes barely a year after the company significantly increased its production capacity through production shutdowns in Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand.
“Uttar Pradesh is a huge beer market and DeVANS has found it increasingly difficult to feed the market to its full potential due to capacity constraints. Vairagi’s production curtailment would greatly help us meet the demand for our beers in the future. State,” said Prem Dewan, Chairman and Managing Director of DeVANS Modern Breweries Ltd.
He said the manufacturing partnership would also help the company avoid additional costs of import duties and freight and also increase our total production capacity to 1,80,600 KL.
DeVANS, manufacturer of iconic beer brands such as Godfather, Six Fields and Kotsberg, owns two breweries – one each in Rajasthan and Jammu, and has been producing all its beers in Arunachal and Jharkhand since last year under production restrictions in these states.
“The Vairagi deal is the third manufacturing deal for the company and discussions on such deals are underway in two more states. The company has also entered into a strategic partnership with Tropical Breweries Ltd in Tamil Nadu, which will commence production of the company brands by November this years,” said Dewan.
He said the most remarkable thing about the collaborations is that the company has entered into these collaborations with new, state-of-the-art breweries that have excellent infrastructure for producing quality beers.
DeVANS has developed innovative products for introduction to the Indian market: Six Fields Cult is India’s first Belgian-style strong wheat beer, while Godfather Super 8 is India’s only beer with an alcohol content of 8 percent, he said.
“Not just beers, DeVANS is also looking at expanding its spirits portfolio. DeVANS entered the Single Malt segment last year with the launch of GianChand single malt whisky, which received critical acclaim,” he added.
A few more single malt expressions with much higher maturity are planned for launch in December 2023, while a premium craft gin and a blended whiskey will hit the market later next year, he said.
