Detective who tried to stop Scottie Scheffler’s car was ‘transported to the hospital after suffering pain, swelling and abrasions’ when world No. 1 ‘refused to comply’ and ‘accelerated forward’, police citation claims
Scottie Scheffler accelerated forward and dragged a police detective to the ground after he was told to pull over his car outside Valhalla Golf Club, according to a police complaint following his stunning arrest Friday morning.
Ahead of his second round at the PGA Championship, world No. 1 golfer Scheffler was seen being led in handcuffs into a police car during a remarkable series of events.
The 27-year-old was then jailed before being released and eventually returning to Valhalla to tee off just after 10am. He now faces four criminal charges, including second-degree assault on a police officer.
“Detective Gillis directed traffic to Gate 1 of the Valhalla Golf Course as the road was closed in both directions due to a previous fatal collision,” the citation reads.
