Destiny 2 enemies become pacifists as suspected server issues throw up strange bugs and glitches

Lot 2 players – and the development team – have had a tough time this week. Not only did the sci-fi shooter endure DDoS attacks that brought the game down for hours, but players also continued to experience connection errors and strange bugs and glitches throughout the weekend.

In addition to confirming the maintenance this weekend, developer Bungie has yet to formally comment on the issues players are experiencing, but some have taken to Reddit and Fate social media channels to report a series of strange occurrences, including doors not opening, PvP scores not updating, and even pacifist enemies refusing to participate.

As u/Indecisive_um said on the Destination subreddit earlier today: “The game is currently broken, it’s not just you.”

The game is currently broken, it’s not just you. by r/DestinyTheGame

“If you’re trying to use interactions and you can’t or the doors don’t open, don’t worry, it’s not you, it’s everyone,” wrote Indecisive_um – just one of dozens of thread starters drawing attention to the current problems established – .

“It appears that (…) something has broken in the game, and some of the following issues have surfaced.”

The thread then lists a handful of issues players reported today, including:

  • No doors open for any activity, including Savathun’s Spire, dungeons like Prophecy of Shattered Throne, and even the Helm.
  • Most, if not all, interactions don’t work like the Chalice of Light in Crotas End, or the rally flag for public events.
  • Enemies are so bugged that it seems like they can’t die, nor can they notice the player in any way.

“I’m sure there are other things going on that I haven’t mentioned, but I just wanted to get this out to anyone who might be wondering what’s going on,” the OP said. “In the meantime, it might be a good idea to play another game while Bungie tries to address the problem, or do what I do and get a chance to get up close and personal with some of these enemies in their natural habitat .”

While it appears that most of the issues have been resolved since then (many recommend restarting your system, especially if you’re in the middle of a heavy session), some players are reporting that the issues are still persisting after Bungie’s background maintenance earlier today (Thank you, PCGN).

Last week, Bungie has announced plans to temporarily disable players from using crafted weapons in an attempt to fix a new in-game glitch.

After acknowledging that players can give legendary weapons exotic properties – bypassing the game’s usual balancing systems and allowing players to essentially equip three exotic weapons at once – Bungie confirmed that it is “working on two fixes” of which it hopes it will address the problem.

The first was a server-side update that will make all crafted weapons unequippable, after which the team will tackle “illegal” weapons by resetting them “to a default state.”

Earlier this week, Bungie said this problem was “now resolved”.

“Illegitimate frames and perks on crafted weapons have been replaced with legitimate ones. Please note that players who attempt to use the previous crafting exploit will receive a WEASEL error code and be kicked to the login screen.”
