Bungie must be stopped.
On Friday, the Lot 2 developer announced via Twitter that it lasts now preorders for a new hug from the universe of Lot 2. But unlike the surprisingly cute 2021 Fallen Hatchling plush, or even the Ghost plush the studio sells, the latest squishy friend to visit the Bungie store is an absolute nightmare.
This is the Screeb, now made of polyester instead of zombified flesh:
This toy is an abomination (not to be confused with Horrors, another equally unsettling enemy type in Destiny), it’s alarming to watch and looks very soft. It’s also $30.
For those unfamiliar with Screebs, allow me to keep you posted. First added in 2018 to leave expansion, Screebs are enemies belonging to Fallen’s mutated/undead subfamily, the Scorn. The in-game versions have lots of arms (just like the plush), creepy udders (also like the plush), and explode when they get too close to you (hopefully nothing like the plush).
These creeps are the absolute worst, are great at ruining flawless runs and like to crawl around dark hallways so they can blow you and themselves to smithereens. They are like Creepers out Minecraft if Creepers were also spiders.
But apparently, if you take one of those pesky freaks and turn it into a plush, it’s almost uncomfortably cute to watch; even if it looks like a small air bag, or Randy dressed in his puffy jacket off A Christmas story.
But of the enemies that the Bungie merchandise team could turn into a cuddly friend you could possibly give to a small child, they certainly managed to pick one of the most disturbing. Here’s hoping The Witness – the series’ big bad who is a conglomeration of souls from a long-dead race, represented by billowing facial smoke trailing behind and vaguely resembling Megamind – isn’t next in line for the plush therapy.
