Dessert Masters Australia’s Reynold Poernomo announces he will never return to reality TV after devastating loss

Dessert Masters Australia fan favorite Reynold Poernomo has revealed he is done with reality TV after his devastating loss on the show.

Speak with Yahoo On Thursday, the 29-year-old chef said he would not return to competitive cooking shows after narrow losses on both MasterChef Australia and Dessert Masters.

“I can’t be pigeonholed all the time on the show. It’s time for me to keep growing and do bigger things. It’s not the end, just the beginning,” he said.

Reynold said he is now focused on preparing to open his Melbourne store and furthering his culinary career.

‘I was working on opening my shop, but that has been postponed until March next year. Dessert Masters was a great opportunity for me to showcase my craft.”

“It was the biggest platform to showcase what my family and I have built,” he added.

Poernomo said at the time that he was considering moving abroad to further his career.

“Maybe I’ll go abroad for Michelin, maybe I’ll go into the entertainment industry abroad. But certainly somewhere in Asia or the United States.’

Reynold was left heartbroken on Tuesday night after losing to Gareth Whitton in the nail-biting grand final.

He took to Instagram to share his disappointment, saying he was devastated that he never received an award for his culinary prowess, or even a review.

Alongside a gallery of photos of him hard at work in the kitchen making a variety of delicious baked goods, he wrote a heartbreaking caption.

“Even though I may not have won, my head is still held high. My two best desserts I ever made for Experiential might not have been the best for tonight,” he began.

He added that he would like to one day receive an award for the delicious desserts he spends hours in the kitchen creating.

Gareth Whitton was crowned the winner of Dessert Masters 2023 in an emotional grand final episode on Tuesday evening.

He will take home the title of Australia’s first ever Dessert Master and $100,000 in prize money.
