A ‘despicable’ driver has been called out after shocking footage showed his dog being dragged across the road after falling out of his car window.
The footage, shared with Dash Cam Owners Australia last week, shows the man driving a white hatchback along a winding road.
His dog had fallen out of the car window and was shockingly dragged across the road by its leash that was attached to the car.
A passing motorcyclist waved at the car, which then suddenly came to a stop, after which the driver carelessly threw his pet in through the window.

Many have since condemned the driver for his careless behavior and highlighted the need to harness dogs while riding in cars.
‘I despise anyone who lets their dog run free in the car. Accidents only happen if they are not stopped,” one person commented.
“That was the most horrifying thing I have ever seen, all dogs having to be restrained in a harness,” said another.
‘He didn’t even check the dog for injuries, he just threw it in the car. What a despicable creature of a dog owner. The dog deserves much more,” one viewer wrote.
“How long did that poor pup have to drag before the biker intervened?” one person commented.
Road rules for having pets in cars vary from country to country.
In NSW and Victoria there are no specific rules for securing animals in cars, but they are not allowed to sit on the driver’s lap.
Meanwhile, Queensland law requires animals to be safely restrained while driving. Drivers can be fined up to $9,288 if they are found to be driving animals in an unsafe manner.
