Deshaun Watson tears his Achilles for the second time in three months, putting NFL career in doubt

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has torn his right Achilles tendon for the second time in three months and underwent surgery for the second time.

Watson tore his Achilles tendon for the first time on October 20. It was reported that he had suffered a setback in his recovery after his first surgery, but now the full extent of the damage is clear.

It’s not yet known how the quarterback hurt himself a second time, but he has a very long road ahead of him to return to the NFL. NFL insider Adam Schefter says Watson faces at least a seven-month recovery.

The Browns have the second pick in 2025 and are now almost guaranteed to select a quarterback.

Watson has made 19 appearances for the Browns since joining them in 2022 on a five-year, fully guaranteed, $230 million deal.

His 2023 season came to an early end when he had to undergo shoulder surgery in November.
