Ron DeSantis is going after the team Donald Trump decided to surround himself with during his White House tenure after the former president insisted he only hire the “best and most serious” people.

A 30-second clip from the Florida governor’s campaign flashed images of who Trump decided to partner with during his four years in office after vowing to Fox News that he would only bring in “great, strong” people if he wins another four years.

“Trump has learned nothing,” the video concludes.

A tweet introducing the video read: “Trump just said that as president he ‘surrounded’ himself with ‘the best and most serious people.'”

“Here are some of those people,” it continued with a video montage of people Trump hired.

The music video showed footage of Trump with Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx, who were charged by the ex-President in the early days of the pandemic with leading the White House response to COVID-19.

Many Republicans have slammed the policies put in place at the recommendation of Fauci and Birx, saying Trump was tricked into imposing more restrictive lockdowns than necessary.

DeSantis rose to national prominence for his response to COVID-19 in Florida – and became notable for reopening schools and businesses and lifting restrictions earlier than most other states.

The governor is still campaigning for this in his candidacy for president, promising not to let the country descend into a “Faucian dystopia” and declaring his state a Free State of Florida.

DeSantis’ campaign released a video Monday mocking Trump for telling Fox News host Brett Baier that he hired the best people in 2016, flashing footage of him with people he decided to work with.

These included Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, former National Security Adviser John Bolton, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan, and Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell .

At the center of the images flashing on screen was a photo of Trump with mega-media personality Kim Kardashian, who made it her mission to work with the then president to commute the sentences of marijuana law violators . Her campaign was successful and she met Trump in the Oval Office during his presidency.

The video montage ended with an image of Trump with Senator Lindsey Graham, who was the first person in the upper room to endorse and campaign for Trump in his third bid for the White House.

Although DeSantis has the best chance of beating Trump of all 13 Republicans vying for the nomination, he is still about 20 points behind the leader in the polls.

DeSantis waited until he announced his candidacy last month to launch full-blown attacks on his main competitor, but is now going after his track record, venturing into deep Trump land during campaigns to ask voters to vote in 2024 change.
