The Sea Eagles have fired two-time premiership coach Des Hasler.
After a board meeting on Thursday, the club and owner Scott Penn decided to bring in Anthony Siebold as his replacement for 2023 and beyond.
Hasler’s manager George Mimis was then notified of the development and resignation papers were to be drawn up shortly.
Hasler is now being tipped to take legal action against the club where he also won two titles as a player in 1987 and 1996.
He leaves Manly with the second most coached matches in the club’s history.

After a meeting on Thursday, the club and owner Scott Penn decided to bring in Anthony Siebold as Hasler’s replacement.
Anthony Siebold worked as an assistant under Trent Barrett with the Sea Eagles and was most recently Eddie Jones’ defensive coach for the England rugby union team
Last Wednesday, Hasler was reportedly willing to partner with Siebold for the 2023 season before leaving.
But Penn and the club’s board have opted for a fresh start, which will infuriate many Sea Eagles fans.
Hasler also led Manly to the NRL preliminary final and a top four finish last season.
This year, the Pride Jersey saga derailed the Sea Eagles campaign as they lost their last seven games before finishing 11th.
It also comes as the player agent of Sea Eagles superstars Jake and Tom Trbojevic admitted that the ongoing power struggle at the club has “taken a toll” on the brothers.
Male superstars Tom and Jake Trbojevic would be ‘disappointed’ in current club politics
Paul Sutton, of the SFX Sports Group, said Trbojevic’s siblings were “disappointed with the club’s behaviour” and fear their beloved organization could “implode” soon.
According to the Daily Telegrama frustrated Jake Trbojevic spoke to Sutton about the festering situation from the UK, where he is a member of the kangaroos competing in the World Cup.
Tom Trbojevic – the 2021 Dally M Medal winner – is said to be fuming over rumors that certain club insiders believe he has paid too much.
“They feel like the club they love is collapsing before their very eyes,” said Sutton.
“They are really at a loss with the place. “If it goes on like this, it’s worn out and if the place gets unappetizing, what do you do? When it becomes untenable.
“Both Jake and Tom are unhappy.”
Penn said earlier this week that having Siebold on board was vital to future-proofing the club’s football success, with an integral succession plan.
Siebold worked under Trent Barrett at Manly before joining the Newcastle Knights and England rugby union where he was Eddie Jones’ defensive coach.
He was also the head coach of the Rabbitohs and Broncos and ‘won’ a wooden spoon at Red Hill in 2020 after just three wins all season.
