Lip filler is on its way.

According to polls of American plastic surgeons, there has been a significant increase in filler removal over the past three years, and a 14 percent decline in requests for the procedure.

Instead, customers are opting for a more natural look and are looking for treatments such as the ‘lip flip’ – where a small amount of Botox is injected above the upper lip, causing it to ‘flip’ outwards and look fuller.

But New York City-based dermatologist Dr. Charles Puza has taken to TikTok to share the ultimate low-key lip pump treatment.

Dr. Charles Puza has revealed his best tip for filling lips ‘naturally’.

The Harvard-trained skin expert told his 1.7 million followers that certain types of lip balms are “clinically proven” to plump lips.

In a clip posted to his channel, you see Dr. Puza sitting casually in his car. The caption reads: ‘When I tell my patients that using lip balm with hyaluronic acid and peptides three times a day is clinically proven to plump the lips (also called filler without filler).’

A top dermatologist has suggested that using two key ingredients on the lips daily for several weeks could have a plumping effect

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the eyes and joints. It acts as a cushion and lubricant and is an effective moisturizer.

It is also the main ingredient in dermal fillers that are injected into the face to add volume.

Peptides are series of amino acids, the ‘building blocks’ of proteins. However, peptides contain a smaller amount of amino acids than proteins.

Studies have shown that peptides play a role in making elastin and collagen; proteins in the skin that give it elasticity.

To complement his clip, Dr. Puza a list of recommended brands including: Clinique, Tatcha and Cetaphil.

Tiktokers commenting on the post seem to agree.

‘Paula’s Choice has a good one. My nail tech asked if I had filler,” one woman wrote, while another added: “I did this and omg it works a little too well.”

‘I use hyaluronic acid on my lips every day…the results are just like filler. This is true.’

Several commenters said they had seen plumper results from Paula’s Choice Lip Booster, $33, which contains both hylauronic acid and peptides.

Hylauronic acid has long been a hero product for naturally increasing lip volume.

Another dermatologist last year popular on TikTok suggested combining a hylauronic acid treatment with petroleum jelly, claiming that a “scientific study” showed that the combination can plump lips.
