‘I never imagined it would end this way’: Derek Carr LEAVES Las Vegas Raiders after being benched for the team’s final two games of the season as he regrets not being able to say goodbye properly… but admits the fire to win a championship’ still rage’

Derek Carr left the Los Vegas Raiders for good after he left for the rest of the season in late December after being benched.

Head coach Josh McDaniels shocked the football world after removing Carr as the starting quarterback in favor of backup Jarrett Stidham for the Raiders’ final two regular season games.

And now Carr has said his goodbyes and is moving on, saying ‘that fire that burns inside me to win a championship still rages.’

“Raider Nation breaks my heart, I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye in person,” he wrote in a statement on Twitter on Thursday.

“We have certainly been on a roller coaster in our nine years together. From the bottom of my heart, I am so thankful and grateful for the years of support you have given me and my family. We had our share of heartbreaking moments and exciting victories, and I always felt like you were by my side.

“It’s especially hard to say goodbye because I can honestly say that I gave you everything I had, every day, in-season and in-season. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but I hope I was able to leave you with more than a few fond memories as Raider fans.

‘Thank you to the city of Oakland for having us. Thank you to the City of Las Vegas for allowing us to proudly call it home. Thanks to the organization, my teammates, all my coaches, staff and everyone who has helped me these past nine years in those two buildings. Thank you to all of Raider Nation who supported, encouraged, pushed, and cheered me on at different times throughout this journey. Raider Nation is truly special.

‘I once said that if I’m not a Raider I’d rather be at home and I meant it, but I never imagined it would end this way. That fire that burns inside me to win a championship still rages. A fire that no man can extinguish; only God.

“So I’m looking forward to a new city and a new team that, no matter what the circumstances, will get everything I’ve got.” Winning a championship is what I have always wanted and what I will continue to work for.

‘God bless you all and love, DC4.’
