Deranged teen who watched beheading videos and was aroused by the thought of killing someone stabbed topless woman as she sunbathed on the beach
The sick mind of a teenage boy who stalked and stabbed a sunbathing woman has been exposed while he was jailed for attempted murder.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was obsessed with beheading videos and hardcore porn and ‘hunted’ potential victims, sometimes waiting for women in toilet cubicles.
He then walked past hairdresser Kaitlin Jones as she lay topless under the midday sun at Blacks Beach in Queensland on September 13, 2021, and stabbed her repeatedly in the head, neck and body.
The court ruled that it was an attack he had long fantasized about.
On Wednesday he was sentenced to seven years in prison, but because he had already served a prison sentence he could be released within two years.
Wonderful. The boy’s knife struck Ms Jones’ breast bones and she survived, although she was rushed to Mackay Base Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Prosecutor Tiffany Lawrence told the Rockhampton High Court that the boy admitted to police he was sexually attracted to Ms Jones and became aroused when he thought about killing someone.
He used illegal drugs and watched online videos of people being murdered and a woman being beheaded Courier mail reported.
Ms Lawrence described the case as ‘deeply disturbing’, adding that he intended to kill and admitted being a fan of infamous US serial killer Ted Bundy, admiring him as a ‘smart’ man.
She said the boy admitted to chasing potential victims around the popular Gooseponds walking trails in North Mackay and even waiting in a public toilet block for a random victim to enter.
At one point he followed a woman, planning to stab her.

After the horror attack, he was seen running on CCTV and later handed himself in to police.

Mrs. Jones crawled to the top of a sand dune where she stood and screamed for help as her blood dripped onto the sand.
Construction worker Gavin Odgaard heard her screams and came to her aid.
‘She screamed, ‘Help! Help! I need help!’ and the urgency of her voice actually moved me to action,” he told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Blood was streaming down the side of her face, down her legs and arms, and she had a blood-soaked towel pressed to her chest.
‘The first thing she said was, ‘I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed – I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die…’
‘It only became clear how serious it was when I was within 8-10 meters and I could see all her injuries.
‘It was just a random selection of victims. They make that stuff for horror movies, but apparently it happens in real life too.
“She was sunbathing topless on her back in the sand, so I don’t know if this somehow caused the provocation, but it’s just bizarre.”
The father-of-two is a trained first aider and treated injuries to her face, head, neck, chest and legs to stop the flow of blood as they waited for emergency services to arrive.
He said Mrs Jones was covered in multiple stab wounds, each about an inch wide, but amazingly the knife had bounced off her breast bones and saved her life.
Just a few millimeters deeper or to the side and the savage stab wounds could have been fatal, he said.
Ms Jones later told police the suspect was ‘in the middle of stabbing her’ when he turned and walked away.
Just a day after the horror movie-like stabbing, Ms Jones (pictured) was praised by a friend as being incredibly strong. She recently opened her own hair salon in Queensland
Crown prosecutor Tiffany Lawrence said the boy admitted chasing potential victims around the popular Gooseponds walking trails (pictured) in North Mackay and even waiting in a public toilet block for a random victim.
The boy later said he expected the stabbing to kill her.
A day after the stabbing, an unnamed friend of Ms Jones told Daily Mail Australia she likely survived because of her incredible personal strength.
‘Still very shaken, but she’s a strong girl. “I still can’t believe it, I really can’t,” he said.
Two years later, Mrs. Jones has physically recovered and is about to marry her fiancé, Dylan Gorham.
“It won’t be long before I claim this beautiful lady as my wife,” wrote Mr Gorham, a miner in Moranbah, in early October.
In May, Ms Jones opened her own hair salon and wrote ‘Thank you for the love and support, can’t wait to see you all’ to her new clientele.
In July, the boy pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder.
The court heard he had been sexually abused by his stepmother, had autism spectrum disorder and had borderline intellectual functioning.
On Wednesday, Judge Crow sentenced him to seven years in prison, with a 50 percent discount.
He has already spent 764 days in pre-trial detention.
