Jessica said this handy trick would help people avoid getting 'toe nail fungus' when they get a pedicure.

“The nail people are going to get on me if I call them out on this every time,” Jessica announced.
“Because I work in healthcare and you're definitely not going to take some nasty tools that you just used on someone else's toes and then use them on mine,” the self-proclaimed germaphobe declared.
“The jokes on you, honey, I know exactly what you're doing and it's not going to work,” Jessica warned the nail technicians, as both manicurists and dental hygienists use the same disinfectant bags to sterilize tools.
Jessica explained that when visiting a salon, it was important to look for a red dot in the top right corner of the clear packaging that the nail tools (such as cuticle clippers) came in, which meant that the tools were actually still dirty from a previous appointment.
In the video, Jessica showed her followers an instrument that came in a clear package and said that many people “think that if it's in here, it looks like they've sterilized it,” but they're “wrong.”
'Black means clean. Red, dirty,” Jessica told her followers, advising them to “run as fast as you can” if they see the latter.
“Post this video because I know all the nail salons around me aren't the only ones doing this,” Jessica said, adding that she wanted to see their “sterilization machine.”
Commenters were quick to offer their own tips on ensuring their manicures were sanitary, also explaining that not all nail salons use the same techniques and packaging.

A fellow dental hygienist agreed: 'Has worked in dentistry and can confirm that the sterilization turns the dots black when clean', warning people to 'be safe' when visiting nail salons.
Many women brought all their own tools with them when they went to appointments and others learned how to do their own nails at home to prevent fungal growth.
One asked: 'What about the sterilized boxes they use?' to which another commenter responded that it “sounds like people's toenails and dander would still be on them if they were just thrown in a box.”
Others shared their nail salon horror stories.
“Not that I have six infections in my ring finger and almost got it amputated by dip powder because they share the powder and nail files,” one commenter shared.
Some explained that not everyone sterilizes the same way, and that it varies by state.
“Some say you clean and disinfect with a barbicide solution and you can sterilize if you want to go the extra step but don't have to,” one comment read, referring to the disinfectant solution used by estheticians.

Some people started doing their own nails at home to avoid having to go to the salon. One woman said: 'I've quit… it's not worth the risk.'
Others joked that they saw nail technicians raising their prices to ensure sterilized tools, while one woman joked, “All I hear is, 'Oh, you want sterilized utensils? No problem, $5.00 more.'
Another said it was important to go to good salons to ensure everything was hygienic.
'The best way to avoid these types of techies is not to go to a chop shop. Simple as that. Go to those who know what they are doing, there are plenty!' she advised.
