Dennis Quaid claims Biden’s ‘weaponization of the justice system’ has driven him to vote for Trump as he reveals what he liked about his last presidency

Actor Dennis Quaid says he’s voting for Donald Trump in November and blames Joe Biden’s “weaponization of the justice system” for swinging him to the right.

Quaid, a two-time Golden Globe nominee, is currently promoting a Ronald Reagan biopic set for release in late August.

Although Quaid calls Reagan his “favorite president,” he believes there is also a lot to like about Trump.

“I think I’m going to vote for him in the next election,” Quaid – who says he has voted for candidates in both parties – told Piers Morgan. “It just makes sense.”

“I was ready not to vote for Trump until what I saw was more than just politics. I see a weaponization of our legal system and a challenge to our Constitution,” he said, referring to the ongoing legal investigation into the former president by the Justice Department under Biden.

The actor, who once played Bill Clinton in the HBO film The Special Relationship, said he doesn’t necessarily think Trump is a perfect man, but that he stands for him.

‘There are some bad people and bad actors in this world and so, you know, people may call him an a*****e, but he’s my a*****e.’

Quaid said that while some moments of Trump’s presidency were a bit too much for him, ultimately, “As president… everything I loved about Trump was everything he did.”

“I’ve voted both ways my whole life, swinging like a pendulum in the direction of what the country needed at the time — and I think this could be an opportunity for the country to come together again.”

He specifically touched on foreign policy, with Trump’s actions against “Rocket Baby” Kim Jong Un in North Korea, the defeat of ISIS and his response to China.

“He stands up to people and that makes him a leader. Instead of, which I kind of liken it to, what was going on in the Jimmy Carter administration, where we’re trying to be everyone’s friend and friend,” he said.

Quaid even helped the Trump administration during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic by interviewing Dr. Anthony Fauci to organize.

The actor, who once played Bill Clinton in the HBO film The Special Relationship, was blunt that he doesn’t necessarily think Trump is a perfect man, but that he stands for him.

When it comes to the current president, Quaid doesn’t necessarily think Joe Biden is a bad man, just not entirely in control

In April 2020, he praised Trump’s handling of the pandemic.

“Well, to tell you the truth, I think the president is handling it in a good way.

“We see him on TV every day, he’s involved and the travel ban at an early stage was a great idea, which he did despite protests about it.”

The actor continued, “I think Trump, regardless of what anyone thinks of him, is doing the right thing by giving these states — and the entire American people — what they need, and also by keeping our economy and staying together . ready for when this is all over. I don’t want to have small discussions about it.’

When it comes to the current president, Quaid doesn’t necessarily think Joe Biden is a bad man, just not entirely in control.

“I don’t feel like he’s in charge, I don’t feel like he’s there…I feel like he’s saying things to get votes, not that he actually believes them. And now I’m really going to get a backlash, but that’s how I feel,” he said.

On the other hand, Quaid says Trump is standing firm with those he works for in America.

“I’ll tell you one thing about him: I really feel like he’s working for the American people. That’s what he’s all about, and I believe that’s true and heartfelt,” Quaid said.

Returning to the legal system, he believes that the investigation into Trump has come to nothing.

“Trump is the most scrutinized person, probably in the history of the world, and they haven’t really been able to get him on anything,” he added.

Ultimately, Quaid wants America to unite as a country, no matter who wins.

“It doesn’t have to be the end of the world, whoever is elected,” he said.
