Denise Van Outen bags brand new Channel 4 show

Denise Van Outen has reportedly landed a brand new Channel 4 show.

And her latest venture is worlds away from those of Celebrity Gogglebox and Steph’s Packed Lunch – both of which she regularly appears on.

Instead, Denise will present a new show for the broadcaster about air fryers and the country’s obsession with them. The sun claims.

The TV star’s new show, which hits screens later this month, explores the technology and science behind the devices that have swept the UK.

However, on hearing the news, stunned TV fans have shared their bewilderment at the show’s unique subject matter – and many have made humorous jokes about it.

Airfryers are worth it It also answers questions about what people can and cannot cook in them and whether they are good for your health.

The former Big Breakfast presenter will test recipes and do taste tests on the program.

While Denise is no doubt excited about her new job, the same cannot be said for several TV aficionados.

After TV Zone tweeted the news about Denise ‘exploring Britain’s obsession with hot air fryers’, many baffled people have questioned the show’s subject matter.

‘It’s not an obsession, it’s just a device for cooking food! What’s next? The British obsession with toasters or the once-a-year banter with de Breville?’ one tweeted.

While another shared: ‘Hundreds of talented development producers in the UK are sighing and throwing their notepads on a bonfire!’

A third sarcastic tweeter said, “Can’t miss tv,” with a fourth adding, “How thrilling.”

Another shared: “You just tweeted that some C4 shows were being canceled “due to cost-cutting measures”. So how much does this cost to make and also WHO IS WATCHING THAT.’

With an additional fan jokingly commenting, “can’t wait for itv to make an adaptation of this documentary as a drama starring Sheridan Smith as the air fryer.”

Costing anywhere from £40 to £400, the compact kitchen appliance works by baking food in the basket at a high temperature – usually 200 degrees – with a powerful fan circulating the heat.

Air fryers have become increasingly popular in recent years, largely driven by health-conscious cooks who want all the crispness and crunchiness of a deep fryer without the grease – foods cooked in them require a minimal amount of oil.

It comes on the heels of news that Big Breakfast presenters Denise and Johnny Vaughan will return to the screen for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Denise and Johnny, who were previously involved in a public feud, will present together on Steph’s Packed Lunch, it was announced Tuesday.

Denise and Johnny, who famously fronted Channel 4’s early morning show from 1998 to 2001, will share hosting duties together again on June 13.

During Tuesday’s packed lunch, Denise regularly told presenter Steph McGovern, ‘Steph’s packed lunch will be presented next week by me and… Johnny Vaughan.

“We talk all the time and we keep saying we should do something together and this just feels like the perfect time for us. I can’t wait, I’m so excited.

The last time we were actually in the picture together, it wasn’t the Big Breakfast; we did a game show called Passport to Paradise and that was 20 years ago.”

Johnny added: “We’ve had Blur, the Gallagher Brothers are rumored and now we can now confirm it’s the big one, the ’90s reunion you’ve been waiting for… Johnny and Denise, and me can not wait. ‘

Steph said, “I’m so excited about this because it’s the reunion we’ve all been longing for for about 20 years.”

The pair were last seen together on TV in 2004 on the BBC1 Saturday night entertainment series, Passport to Paradise.
