Demon Slayer season 4: release date, trailer, confirmed cast, plot synopsis and more

Demon slayer Season four, also known as the Hashira Training arc, takes the next step in Tanjiro’s journey to become a full-fledged Demon Slayer. While all episodes of the original Japanese version, Demon Hunter: Kimetsu no Yaiba, have already aired, the dubbed English version is currently being released weekly. To follow the adventure of one of the best anime of all time, fans can stream it first on Crunchyroll, and later on Netflix.

The Hashira Training arc, based on the manga, sees the teenager strive to become a skilled Demon Slayer to avenge the death of his family and guide his sister Nezuko’s transformation into a demon. This arc is a far cry from the boy we met in season one. Read on below to find out more about the release date, cast, plot details, and trailers. We’ll also dive into what’s in store for the Demon slayer franchise when it comes to its arrival on one of the world’s best streaming services and its fifth season, which takes on a whole new form.

Whereas Demon slayer season four has already been released in Japanese, there is big spoilers ahead discussing plot details of the show. For fans who haven’t read the manga series, there will also be spoilers coming soon Demon slayer Season Five.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Release Date

While the Japanese version of Demon slayer Season four is already available to stream in its entirety, with English dubbing of episodes only beginning on June 30th with their weekly release on Crunchyroll and expected to continue until late August.

As for when it will hit Netflix, there is no confirmed release date. What we do know is that season three took a few months to hit Netflix, while season two took almost a year. If the most recent season is anything to go by, we can speculate Demon slayer will be hitting the streamer in late 2024 or early 2025. But we’ll be sure to update when we know for sure.

The first three seasons are now streaming on Netflix. Note that season two has been split into two arcs on the streaming platform; the Mungen Train Arc and the Entertainment District Arc, making it seem like there are already four seasons.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Story Synopsis

Demon slayer Season 4 is an adaptation of chapters 128-139 of the manga of the same name. It begins with an hour-long episode that delves into Tanjiro’s journey to avenge his family and along with his allies, they enter the Hashira Training arc. Spoilers for all eight episodes of season four.

In episode one, Wind and Serpent Hashira go on a mission to rescue a kidnapped woman and come across an entrance to Infinity Castle before it disappears. Elsewhere, there are discussions led by Kagaya’s wife, Amane, about the mysterious markings that appeared on Misturi and Muichiro while they were in battle.

Tojiro and his allies begin training in preparation for the impending conflict against Muzan Kibutsuji, who continues to pursue Nezuko. Each Hashira leads a training to strengthen the Demon Slayers, but Water Hashira refuses. To close the episode, Tamayo is visited by Kagaya’s crow, who enlists the skilled doctor/demon to fight Muzan and ally with Shinobu Kocho.

In episode two, Tanjiro wants to find out why Giyu isn’t participating in the Hashira Training. Giyu eventually confides in Tanjiro that a dark memory from his past, involving Sabito from season one, has made him feel unworthy. Fortunately, Tanjiro helps him overcome his problems. During this event, Insect Hashira tells Shinobu Kanao about her plan to teach her how to kill the demon that killed her older sister.

In episode three, Tanjiro impresses during the Hanshira training that Tengen has set up. Tengen gives the trainees a big challenge by pretending to be a demon hunting them. With Tanjiro as a strong leader, he inspires the other trainees to work harder and complete their training.

In episode four, the training with Muichiro becomes more intense. Tonjiro once again impresses with his skills against Sanemi and Obanai. Tonjiro challenges Muichiro to a paper airplane contest, meaning that if he loses, he will be more lenient towards the trainees. Muichiro wins easily, but it teaches him how to change his attitude towards the trainees anyway.

In episode five, the training continues at Mitsuri’s stage, then Obanai’s stage, and finally Sanemi’s stage. While Tanjiro is successful, Sanemi takes on a personal vendetta and defeats the trainees, along with Tanjiro, to teach them a lesson in resilience. Elsewhere, Wind Harisha reveals to Sanemi’s younger brother, Genya, that he eats demons. Sanemi is angry at Tanjiro and ends his training, but Tanjiro and Zenitsu advance to the final stage.

In episode six, it’s time for the towering Stone Hashira Gyomei’s training, which involves three phases of negotiating a waterfall, lifting logs, and pushing a boulder. As Tanjiro struggles to cope with the weight of the boulder, he’s reminded by Genya to use Repetitive Action – to use certain memories to increase strength – and succeeds. Elsewhere, the threat of Muzan grows as Biwa Demon Nakime has located 60% of the Demon Slayers in pursuit of Nezuko and Kagaya.

In episode seven, Tanjiro completes his training. On his way to Giyu, Tajiro finds Zenitsu angry about a letter he received, although its contents remain unclear. Giyu and Sanemi spar, but Sanemi is once again at odds with Tanjiro, who tries to make peace. Sanemi discovers Nakime’s eye and realizes that the Hashira Training Corps has been infiltrated. At the same time, Muzan enters the Ubuyashiki mansion to confront Kagaya, the leader of the Corps.

Finally, in episode eight, Muzan is determined to find Nezuko. In a huge twist, Kagaya detonates explosives in his mansion, incapacitating himself and most of his family to shock Muzan. He escapes, but not before the Hashira and Demon Slayers arrive to fight him. Just when it seems like they might defeat him, Nakime opens the doors to the Infinity Castle below them, sucking them all in, transporting them, and trapping them inside.

Demon Slayer season 4: future seasons?

Now that Demon Slayer season 4 has wrapped up, fans are left with a huge cliffhanger with the Hashira and the Demon Slayers trapped in Infinity Castle. Thankfully, season 5 has been officially announced, but it won’t be arriving in the traditional sense. Instead of a series of episodes, the next step in the Demon Slayer franchise will be a trilogy of films based on the Infinity Castle arc.

The teaser trailer, shown above, shows an ominous, dimly lit staircase and hallway of Infinity Castle before the words appear: “With a united will that lasts forever… Take the fight to Infinity Castle.” before a montage of the key Hashira and various fight scenes plays.

In a statement (per Variety), said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll: “Crunchyroll is thrilled to bring this trilogy of films to fans on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and influential pop culture events of our time when it hits theaters.”

Season four sets the scene for the Demon Slayers to be fully trained and ready to fight. The Infinity Castle arc makes up the first half of the manga’s Final Battle Arc, with the second half being called the Sunrise Countdown arc. That’s chapters 137-205 to get through and there’s clearly a lot of story left to tell, hence the feature film trilogy. Although Demon slayer Season five is not really a season as we know it, the three films form the final part of the story.
