Democrat staffers assaulted by baseball bat-wielding assailant in office just outside DC
Two staffers were hospitalized after a baseball bat-wielding assailant attacked them at Rep.’s county office. Jerry Connolly.
The assailant was reportedly looking for the Virginia Democrat himself, who was not present, and instead went after his staff.
The staffers are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and the person who entered the office is now in police custody, according to a statement.

“This morning a person entered my county office armed with a baseball bat and asked for me before committing an act of violence against two members of my staff,” Connolly said in a statement.
The district office is located in Fairfax, Virginia, in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
‘Our focus is now on getting them the care they need. We are incredibly grateful to the City of Fairfax Police Department and medical responders for their prompt response. I have the best team in Congress. My district office staff is available to voters and the public every day,” Connolly added.
He continued: “The thought of anyone taking advantage of my staff’s reach to commit violence is unconscionable and devastating.”
