Democrat’s insensitive response when asked about the brutal rape and murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray

  • Two illegal immigrants are accused of raping and murdering the 12-year-old
  • Progressive Democrat Summer Lee claimed she knew nothing about the story
  • She disappeared after claiming ignorance to a reporter who asked about Nungaray

Congresswoman Summer Lee shockingly responded to a reporter who asked about the rape and murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray by illegal immigrants by claiming she didn’t know who she was.

Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, are accused of brutally killing the 12-year-old and dumping her body in a creek. Both came illegally from Venezuela.

The Pennsylvania Democrat – who proudly publishes endorsements of Bernie Sanders and ‘The Squad’, among others – was visited by a reporter on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to discuss the issue.

When asked about her thoughts on the brutal crime, the lawmaker’s response was stunning. She claimed not to know the reporter or Nungaray.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I don’t talk to strangers – I don’t even know who you are, and I don’t know who she is, I’m from Pittsburgh,” she said.

The reporter was Fox BusinessHillary Vaughn, who tried to get progressives’ opinions on Nungaray’s murder.

“I don’t know anything about it,” Lee added before walking away from Vaughn to an office on Capitol Hill.

Police said Martinez and Ramos lured the preteen under a bridge and sexually assaulted her for two hours before strangling her to death.

Nungaray’s battered body was recovered from a creek near her Houston home on June 17 after she snuck out past her bedtime.

Although both prosecutors and police believe the girl was raped, the alleged attackers have not yet been charged with sexual assault and the results of the victim’s rape kit are still awaited.

If prosecutors are accused of sex crimes, they can seek the death penalty.

During the court hearing, prosecutors said Martinez-Rangel had bite and scratch marks on his arm. He had also shaved his facial hair after the murder to avoid being discovered.

Assistant District Attorney Megan Long and Chief Prosecutor said in court that Pena Ramos told police he allegedly tried to convince Rangel Martinez to stop, but he allegedly refused and climbed on top of Jocelyn and choked her.

The alleged killers of Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, could escape the death penalty if convicted because she is over 10 years old

On Monday, Peña Ramos, who is also accused of killing the 12-year-old, claimed he only kissed Jocelyn and denied any wrongdoing.

Both men are Venezuelan migrants who entered the U.S. illegally through the southern border.

Just two days after Nungaray’s body was found, police say Ramos cut off an ankle bracelet he was equipped with when he illegally crossed the border near El Paso on May 28.

The discarded ankle monitor was found last Wednesday NewsNation reported.

He is also said to have asked his employer at a construction site for extra money so he could skip town.

But the boss contacted police instead and Ramos was arrested, police said Houston Chronicle.

In court Monday, Judge Josh Hill set Ramos’ bond at $10 million — double what prosecutors recommended and 10 times the amount sought by the defense.
