Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett was quick to correct herself after saying on MSNBC on Sunday that former President Donald Trump “should be shot.”

Plaskett, a non-voting member of the United States House of Representatives representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, was talking about Trump’s indictment in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case when she made the verbal blunder.

Plaskett slammed Trump for “having the secret information for Americans” and being able to share it with “anyone and anyone who comes through his resort.”

“And he must be shot—stopped,” she said.

Plaskett continued the interview, adding that Trump “will have his day in court.”

She berated Republicans for claiming there is a “two-tier system” of justice, saying they want it to “allow them to get away with more than ordinary Americans.”

Plaskett called Republicans’ skepticism of the Justice Department and FBI “propaganda.”

A number of Republicans have alleged that President Joe Biden armed the DOJ to arrest Trump, his main political rival.

Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed special counsel Jack Smith to handle the Trump documents case and the DOJ investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol bombing, just as Special Counsel Robert Mueller had handled the Trump-related Russia investigation.

Plaskett, who was elected to her role in 2014, has gained more notoriety since serving as one of the House’s Democratic impeachment managers for Trump’s second impeachment trial, for his role in instigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

She is now the leading member of the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which Republicans formed after taking control of the House in January.

A Twitter user commented“All of Stacey Plaskett’s Freudian slip.”

“Lock her up!” noted Ryan Fourierthe founder of Students for Trump.

“Freudian slip?” repeated the Twitter account of the right-wing Daily Caller.

Trump pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to 37 federal counts related to his mishandling of classified documents.

He returned to Bedminster, New Jersey – where he spends his summers – and gave a defiant speech on the case.

Trump will continue to run in the 2024 Republican primary.

He will appear at a major conservative conference in the DC area this weekend and will headline a Fourth of July themed rally outside Greenville, South Carolina on July 1.
