Democrat Jamaal Bowman’s Office Calls Republicans ‘NAZIS’ After He Triggers Fire Alarm – As Republican Party Try to Kick Him Out of Congress

  • Bowman denies that a fire alarm was set off to delay a vote on the government shutdown
  • His office sent a memo accusing Republicans of being “Nazis.”
  • Bowman says he had no knowledge of the memo

Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman has stoked even more anger just two days after setting off a fire alarm during a crucial vote in Congress.

His office sent out a memo criticizing “Nazi” Republicans, while Republican Party members circulated an effort to have him expelled from Congress.

Bowman has now apologized and insists the memo was sent without his ‘consent’.

But the progressive New York lawmaker is still being targeted by Republicans who claim he deliberately set off the fire alarm to delay a vote and prevent a government shutdown.

Bowman’s office sent the memo to other Democrats on Monday, with suggestions on how they should rally around him.

It instructed them to tell the media, β€œI believe Congressman Bowman when he says this was an accident. Republicans should instead focus their energies primarily on the Nazi members of their party.”

The Democratic congressman later said, β€œI just became aware that our reporting guidelines included inappropriate use of the term Nazi without my permission.

‘I condemn the use of the term Nazi because of its precise definition. It is important to specify the term Nazi to refer to members of the Nazi Party and neo-Nazis.”

Republicans have said Bowman should receive the same treatment as the Jan. 6 suspects, as Capitol Police investigate.

He insists it was a simple mistake and that pulling the alarm would open an emergency exit covered in signs.

Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis introduced the resolution to have Bowman removed from the House of Representatives.

‘It’s not just about pulling a fire alarm. It was during an official procedure. β€œThat’s the same thing they went after the individuals who walked into the Capitol on January 6,” she told Fox and Friends on Monday.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has defended her Democratic colleague, saying he had a “moment of panic.”

Ocasio Cortez said: ‘I think there’s something to be said that the government is about to shut down, there’s a voting clock going off, the exits that are normally open in that building were suddenly closed…’

The incident happened around 12:05 a.m. Saturday and U.S. Capitol Police are still investigating.

Police said this led to people being evacuated “floor by floor” from the Cannon Building, an office building associated with Congress.

A spokesman said: ‘A man was seen attempting to exit the door in the Gun Building and subsequently pulling the fire alarm prompting the evacuation.’

They said officers had “previously posted signs in plain language explaining that the door was secured and marked as an emergency exit only.”

The congressman said, β€œAs I was rushing to vote, I came to a door that is normally open for voting but would not open.

‘I’m ashamed to admit that I activated the fire alarm because I mistakenly thought it would open the door. I regret this and sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”
