Demi Moore scolds audience as she introduces Cher at star-studded amfAR Gala: ‘Are you an Emmy winner? I f*****g don’t think so’
Demi Moore booed the crowd as she introduced Cher at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in Cap d’Antibes, France, Thursday.
The Ghost star, 61, was on stage giving the entertainment icon, 78, a glowing tribute, when an audience member in the back appeared to fuel her ire.
The video, posted by Ramin Setoodeh on Tweetopens with Demi saying, “I’m going to see if this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for.”
The actress continued, “I’m just making sure you’re really with me. Because this incredible woman that I’m about to introduce is a Grammy winner, an Oscar winner, an Emmy winner.”
At this point, Demi paused for a moment, seemingly annoyed by someone in the audience, before saying, “Are you an Emmy winner back there in the room?” I do not think so.’

The crowd erupted in a mix of surprised reactions, with some cheering, before Demi continued.
‘She is a style icon and my personal hair inspiration. And she was honored by amfAR for their inspiration award in 2015.”
“The bottom line is that she is just one of the most talented, successful, and most loved artists of all time,” Demi continued.
“So please,” she said, before taking another remarkably long pause as she gazed out over the crowd before continuing, “please give a warm welcome to the incredible, one and only, Cher.”
It is unclear whether anyone in the audience had said anything, whether she was responding to the noise coming from the audience during her introduction, or was simply being playful.
Earlier on the red carpet, Demi and Cher posed together as they enjoyed a reunion nearly 30 years after starring in the 1996 HBO series “If These Walls Could Talk.”
Demi, Cher and her younger boyfriend Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, 38, joined other stars on the evening to raise money for HIV/AIDS research at the annual gala, which was first established in 1993 by Elizabeth Taylor .
Cher was also pictured performing in the evening in a clip that model Heidi Klum posted to her Instagram. She sizzled up a storm in a black sparkly bodysuit and black leather jacket.
At the event, the Indecent Proposal star looked simply stunning in a deeply sparkling silver dress that clung to her enviable figure.

Earlier on the red carpet, she wore a white dress with a draped neckline, a high side slit and a long train.
The dress had a silver rope-like edge and she paired the dress with beautiful silver jewelry.
Demi wore her hair up and finished her look with a pair of plain silver heeled sandals.
Demi and Cher showed off their long-lasting friendship in sweet snaps on the red carpet as they wrapped their arms around each other, with Demi leaning in for a kiss and Cher leaning in to meet her.
Alexander, music director of Cher’s Def Jam pal, who shares a child with American model Amber Rose, joined in at the end.
Ready to head to the next photo location, Demi’s train was held by a man dressed in a chic silver suit so she could move quickly.
Outside, Demi ran into Michael Jackson’s eldest daughter Paris, who wore all black and accessorized with green jewelry.
