Delta Goodrem reveals the surprising way her fiancé Matthew Copely helped her prepare for her role in new Netflix film Love is in the Air
Delta Goodrem, 38, says her fiancé Matthew Copely, 36, was instrumental in her return to acting in the new Netflix film Love is in the Air.
The singer took flying lessons from her father Copley as she prepared to play a seaplane pilot in the romantic comedy, out September 28.
Speak with TV weekDelta said she spent time flying with Matthew’s father, Bruce, before filming in the Whitsundays in Queensland.
“Bruce used to be a pilot, so I was lucky to have such great information right away,” the Wings singer explained.
“I spent a lot of time in the pilot seat learning as much as I could to prepare for the role,” she continued.

“I’m not sure I was ready to fly someone around, but I was tempted by everything I learned!”
In the film, Delta’s character Dana falls in love with an English businessman, played by Kylie Minogue’s ex Joshua Sasse, who is sent to sink her small airline.
Delta announced her engagement to Matthew in an Instagram post last week, along with a loved-up photo of the couple on holiday in Malta.
In the image, the singer tenderly embraced the handsome guitarist in front of a beautiful sea view as the sun set in the foreground.
“My best friend asked me to marry him,” she giddily captioned the image, alongside a ring emoji.

Although the singer was known for her role in Neighbors as Nina Tucker, she shifted her focus to music after signing with Sony at the age of 15.
Although Matthew is best known as his girlfriend’s guitarist, he has also worked with some other big names in the industry, including Conrad Sewell.
The couple even went into business with their own independent record label called ATLED Records (ATLED is Delta spelled backwards).
Meanwhile, the last film Delta appeared in was released in 2018, Olivia Newton John: Hopelessly Devoted to You.
