Delta Goodrem reveals how fans played an important part in her engagement to long-time boyfriend Matthew Copley

Delta Goodrem has always had something very special with its fans.

And now the 38-year-old singer has opened up about how they played a major role in her recent engagement to her longtime boyfriend Matthew Copley.

“I actually realized that The Innocent Eyes Tour was a total national engagement party,” Goodrem said 9Entertainment from her most recent world tour.

“I felt like I was celebrating as everyone went to each city and felt the love. It’s great to share (the involvement) with everyone.

“It just feels like a real celebration,” Goodrem added, highlighting the beauty of her relationship not only with Copley, but with her fans as well.

“My best friend asked me to marry him,” Delta giddily captioned the image, alongside a ring emoji.

Delta has had quite a few famous faces, including Nick Jonas, Brian McFadden and tennis great Mark Philippoussis.

But much less is known about the singer’s current boyfriend, Matthew Copley.

“I actually realized that The Innocent Eyes Tour was a total national engagement party,” Goodrem told 9Entertainment on Wednesday about her most recent world tour.

In 2018, she told InStyle Australia that she had made a “conscious decision” to keep her love life private.

“I made a choice that I’m not even going to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’… I didn’t say anything for three or four years,” she stated.

As a result, Delta and Matt never appear on the red carpet together and the Born to Try hitmaker rarely goes into details about her relationship in interviews.

She finally broke her silence in February this year in Australian Women’s Weekly, confessing: “He’s my guitarist, I met him through music.”

‘It’s incredible to be on stage with him because he’s so talented. We are truly a team. He is my best friend, he is kind and a beautiful person,” she continued.

‘I’m very lucky. It’s all very natural and I think it comes from a beautiful respect and love. I feel so grateful.’

Despite her comments, Delta insisted she did not want to share any further details about her husband.

The couple never appears on the red carpet together and the Born to Try hitmaker usually refuses to go into details about her relationship in interviews.

“I learned quite young that I like to keep some of that private.” I’ve always been so understanding that I’ve been in the public eye since I was a teenager, but I also think it’s nice to keep some things to yourself.”

Although Matthew is best known as his girlfriend’s guitarist, he has also worked with some other big names in the industry, including Conrad Sewell.

The couple even went into business with their own independent record label called ATLED Records (ATLED is Delta spelled backwards).
