Delta Goodrem has revealed the reason why female fans started throwing bras and underwear at her on stage during a recent concert.
The Australian singer, 39, took to the stage at A Day on the Green in Bowral last weekend but was left surprised when fans started throwing underwear at her.
During the concert, she addressed the audience, jokingly describing it as her “lucky day” when an enthusiastic fan had her very first bra thrown onto the stage.
Delta highlighted the funny moment during an appearance on Tuesday’s Sunrise, insisting the underwear throwing came about because it was Tom Jones’ concert.
The Welsh singer, 83, became a pop star heartthrob with his hits including What’s New Pussycat? in the 1960s, before hitting the popular dance track Sexbomb in 1999.

Delta jokingly described it as the ‘Tom Jones effect’ when she talked about how female fans alongside the music legend also started throwing their underwear at her during their performance.
She told Sunrise presenters Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr: “Yes, it’s a Tom Jones concert. So it was a part of us together. We were spending a day on the green together.
“Honestly, I wanted to get the spirit going, I heard everyone was doing that. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up wearing panties and bras in my career, but we had so much fun! It was amazing.’
Joking that she had now inherited the practice, she quipped: ‘The torch has been passed! It’s towards me!’

After the show, Delta shared a video on Instagram of a very excited fan throwing a bra at her on stage while joking that she hoped it wasn’t the last.
Laughing at the antics, she said: “I have a bra, I have a pair of panties, fantastic! This is my lucky day, I’ve never had a bra thrown at me at any of my concerts.’
Delta was seen waving the underwear in the air and using it as a prop as she performed The Pointer Sisters’ hit I’m So Excited.
In a caption, she joked, “You think you’ve done so much live performance in a few decades and then you get your first bra thrown on stage and a new standard is unlocked.”
Elsewhere on Sunrise, Delta also reflected on saying goodbye to her 11-year manager and shared how she feels “inspired” after the big change.
