Delphi double murder suspect Richard Allen will appear in court on Thursday for a bail hearing.
The 50-year-old is accused of killing best friends Libby German, 14, and Abby Williams, 13, as they hiked Indiana’s Delphi Historical Trails on Feb. 13, 2017.
Their bodies were discovered the next day, and the case preoccupied police for years — until a bullet found at the bloody crime scene linked Allen to the 2022 murders.
Allen, who is from Delphi and has a daughter, is due to appear before Judge Frances Gull at Carroll Circuit Court on Thursday.
According to News Nationn Nowthe defense will plead for his release on bail because the evidence against him is not strong enough to detain him while he awaits trial – which could take several months.

Two days after the girls were killed, law enforcement released a photo of a white man wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a hoodie
Thursday’s hearing was originally scheduled for February, but was postponed at the request of Allen’s lawyers – Bradley Anthony Rozzi and Andrew Joseph Baldwin – due to the large amount of evidence they must review.
For the same reason, the trial, originally scheduled for March, may be postponed to 2024.
The trial date will be discussed at Thursday’s hearing.
Allen’s lawyers said he had slept for days on a pillow on the floor of a “cold, concrete” cell the size of a dog kennel without clean clothes or visiting rights from his wife and family.
They released a photo of Allen taken on April 4 showing him looking thin, and argued that his treatment had led to a deterioration in his physical and mental health, which affected their ability to mount a defense with building it delayed.

County Judge Fran Gull said in court that Delphi’s lawyers for Richard Allen, 50, and the state’s attorney must decide within a week which county that jury should come from
Allen’s attorneys requested a change in the trial venue in November, arguing it would be difficult to form an impartial jury in Carroll County due to intense public and media attention surrounding the case
The February 2017 murders sparked nationwide interest after Indiana State Police released footage from the German Snapchat story showing the girls walking across the Monon High Bridge.
A blurry man named ‘Bridge Guy’ was featured in the image and was identified as one of the prime suspects in the case.
Police interviewed Allen shortly after the murders, and he told them he had been on the bridge the day of the girls’ deaths, but denied meeting them.
Kegan Kline, 28, was linked to the case last December
An affidavit released in November 2022 shows that an unused .40 caliber bullet was found among the teens’ bodies, which was later linked to Allen’s Sig Sauer Model P226 firearm through forensic evidence.
In December, DailyMail.com revealed that German and Williams were murdered in a failed kidnapping plot hatched by members of a local pedophile gang, which Allen was allegedly a part of.
Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland openly stated that he believes “Allen isn’t the only actor involved in this,” and prosecutors have alleged that he attempted a kidnapping – though he has not been charged with this.
Sources close to the investigation have alleged that Allen acted with at least two other men.
Pedophile Kegan Kline, 28, of Peru, Indiana, who is currently awaiting trial on a slew of child porn charges, used a fake social media profile called Anthony Shots to communicate with German before she died.
Both Allen and Kline are said to have had ties to Ron Logan (pictured), whom authorities had previously identified as a suspect in the case after the girls’ bodies were found on his property. Logan, who died in January 2022, was never formally named as a murder suspect

The police who questioned Kline told him they didn’t believe he committed the murders, but were protecting the identity of whoever did — and he’s reportedly now cooperating with prosecutors in an effort to lower his own charges.
The source told DailyMail.com that Kline met Allen when they both lived in Peru, about 40 miles northwest of Delphi.
They also claimed that both men knew Ron Logan, who police first identified as a suspect in the murders after the girls’ bodies were found on his property, some 450 meters from his home.
