Deion Sanders’ son Shilo declares BANKRUPTCY, court files reveal, after Colorado safety lost $12m lawsuit over an alleged 2015 assault

  • Shilo was accused of assaulting a security guard at his high school in 2015
  • The plaintiff accuses Shilo of hiding NIL income to avoid the fine

Deion Sanders’ son Shilo has filed for bankruptcy in an apparent attempt to avoid paying $11.89 million to a high school security guard who successfully sued the Colorado football player over an alleged assault.

According to federal and Texas state court records obtained by DailyMail.com, Shilo was accused in 2015 of attacking John Darjean at Triple A Academy, a high school within the now defunct Focus Academies where Deion served as CEO.

Shilo allegedly punched Darjean in the chest and continued to punch the security guard after attempting to discipline the student for being disruptive and violating the school’s phone ban. Darjean filed a lawsuit in Dallas in 2016, claiming he suffered “severe and permanent injuries, including a broken neck, damage to his cervical spine, permanent neurological injuries and irreversible incontinence.”

In a separate legal filing, Shilo acknowledges that an incident occurred but denies or claims he cannot remember many of Darjean’s allegations. DailyMail.com’s messages to Shilo’s lawyers went unanswered.

As first reported by Westword.com, 24-year-old Shilo’s NIL earnings are also being questioned by Darjean’s legal team. The high-profile son of Colorado’s football coach has a NIL worth of $1.1 million, according to On3.com, although the extent of his endorsement and marketing deals is not fully known to the public.

Shilo filed for bankruptcy in October and two months later claimed in another filing to have just $320,477 to his name.

Darjean’s legal team has accused Shilo of not reporting all his assets and the lawyers point to his social media accounts to prove he has more to reveal.

“Contrary to planning, Shilo admitted to purchasing vast quantities of high-priced and expensive clothing,” a filing said. “For example, on his YouTube channel, posted on May 4, 2023, he says, ‘Okay, we at the Louis (Vuitton) Store, I’m trying to spend at least $50,000 today.’

Shilo’s name is associated with a pair of LLCs, but according to a now-sealed Jan. 29 filing, he also “claimed to have little to no knowledge of the formation or operation of.”

“On its face, this omission is as glaring as it is ridiculous, as it is precisely Shilo’s NIL value and/or public value that is the source of the non-stop paid engagements and appearances on social media,” the lawyers continued from Darjean.

‘… Shilo has deliberately failed to identify and disclose its individual NIL ownership interest anywhere in the schemes.’

Shilo has denied failing to disclose its NIL contracts.

Darjean, meanwhile, has been accused by Shilo’s legal team of violating a court order by releasing his own homemade documentary about the case, titled: ‘Prime Time for Truth.’

In its April 29 response, Darjean’s legal team accused Shilo’s of trying to violate his First Amendment rights.

Darjean’s attorneys did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Deion Sanders is entering his second season as Colorado’s head football coach. The Pro Football Hall of Famer also coaches another son, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur.

Coincidentally, Darjean played minor league baseball for the Yankees organization in the late 1990s, where Deion began his own baseball career in 1989.
