Deion Sanders: Oregon mascot’s head falls off while smashing up ‘Prime Time’ clock in Colorado coach’s cowboy hat and glasses

Oregon’s mascot tried to make fun of Deion Sanders by dressing up as the Buffaloes coach and smashing a ‘Prime Time’ clock – before the stunt hilariously backfired.

Colorado made the trip to Oregon on Saturday night with a lot of hype behind them after a strong start to the season that saw them reel off three straight wins.

And Sanders, widely considered the greatest NFL cornerback in history, was the talk of the college scene early in the campaign due to his team’s impressive form and recent feud with Colorado State coach Jay Norvell.

Before their showdown on Saturday night, Oregon capitalized on the hysteria surrounding Coach Prime by dressing their famous duck mascot in his signature cowboy hat and glasses.

Footage from the game shows the Oregon Duck emerging from the Autzen Stadium tunnel and destroying a “Prime Time” clock with what appears to be a metal rod.

But he was forced to flee when his duck’s head fell off while smashing the Prime Time clock

But unfortunately for the mascot, karma soon took its toll when his duck’s head fell off, exposing him to the fans in attendance.

After losing his head, the man behind the mascot was forced to flee and get back into the tunnel as quickly as possible.

Sanders is already being watched as an NFL coach after Colorado’s stellar start to the season.

Ask several NFL “high-level team decision makers”: The Athletics asked how Sanders is perceived among the pros. The consensus is that ‘Coach Prime’ could soon become ‘Coach Pro’.

Seven out of 10 people surveyed by The Athletic predicted that Sanders would receive interview requests for the head coach hiring cycle at the end of this current NFL season.

The other three believed it was too early to predict such a thing, but did not rule it out.

One director said: ‘I would definitely call him in to hear what he has to say. He is a smart guy and a good coach who has had a lot of success early on.

“You’d want to pick his brain to see if it could translate. He knows how to motivate his players. He’s crushed the transfer portal, and maybe that would transition into team building through free agency.”

A rise like this would be truly meteoric in the ranks of college football. Sanders didn’t become head football coach until 2020 – when he took the reins at FCS school Jackson State.

He won back-to-back SWAC titles in 2021 and 2022 before jumping ship and “taking his baggage” to the Boulder Flatirons.
