Deion Sanders embraces Emma Hayes as NFL icon meets the US women’s national team on Colorado campus
The U.S. women’s national team got a special visit from Colorado soccer coach Deion Sanders on Wednesday – and ‘Coach Prime’ shared a sweet moment with U.S. national team coach Emma Hayes.
Ahead of a pair of pre-Olympic exhibition games against South Korea on June 1 and 4 (the first is in Commerce City, Colorado), the Americans will practice on the school’s campus.
And as can be seen in a video Shared by the USWNT’s official X account, Hayes was extremely excited to meet NFL Hall of Famer Sanders.
Sanders clapped his hands expectantly as he walked up to Hayes, who said, “I’m so happy to meet you, come here.”
The pair then shared a hug before continuing their conversation, while also posing for a photo while holding up an American scarf.

Hayes also posed with a Colorado scarf the day before while standing with two Colorado football staffers.
Meanwhile, the American women also posed for a photo with a smiling Sanders, while the USWNT’s X account captioned the post “Neon Deion meets the #USWNT.”
Sanders is entering his second season at Colorado after transferring from Jackson State.
Hayes, meanwhile, was named the USWNT’s new coach in November but stayed on until the end of Chelsea’s season in May.
She left the Blues as the most decorated women’s manager in British history, with seven league titles, five women’s FA Cups and two women’s League Cups.
A day earlier on Tuesday, Hayes completed her first workout with the U.S. women’s national team as the Americans began their preparations for the Olympics.

The United States opens its Paris Olympics campaign against Zambia on July 25, before also taking on Germany and Australia in group play.
Hayes’ squad will play four exhibition matches prior to the tournament, including matches against Mexico on July 13 and Costa Rica on July 16.
Hayes announced her initial roster last week ahead of friendlies with South Korea, which will take place in Commerce City, Colorado and then St. Paul, Minnesota.
She will then announce her final selection for the Olympic Games, ahead of the friendlies against Mexico and Costa Rica.
