Defy the rulership! Zara Tindall is supported by Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence as she takes part in Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park in the rain

Zara Tindall was supported by Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence as she attended the Festival of British Evening at Gatcombe Park this morning.

The mother of three, 42, was spotted this morning at one of the jumping competitions – which takes place at the Princess Royal’s estate in Gloucester.

The event is now being held for the 28th time and includes a course designed by Princess Anne herself.

The three-day event includes dressage, show jumping and several cross-country stages.

Despite the wet and windy conditions, Zara, who won a silver medal in eventing at the 2012 London Olympics, was fully focused on the competition at hand.

The rider – who lives on the Gatcombe Park estate with her family – wore white trousers, a waterproof navy blue Land Rover jacket and black leather riding boots for today’s competition.

Despite the wet weather, Princess Anne (72) proudly watched her daughter participate from the sidelines.

The royal family was appropriately dressed for the wet weather in a black waterproof baseball hat and gloves.

Anne was totally captivated by her daughter’s performance and was seen with a crook who used to herd sheep.

Meanwhile, Timothy – who has been Zara’s stepfather for 31 years – wore a green waxed jacket and a tweed flat cap.

Yesterday, Zara was joined at the event by her daughters Mia, nine, Lena, five, and her nieces Savannah, 12, and Isla Phillips, 11.

The royal cousins were pictured laughing with each other and taking part in the activities on offer, including trampolining.

Dressed in what appeared to be official navy T-shirts for the annual event, the pair prepared for the muddy conditions by donning green rubber boots.

Mia is the eldest of the children of Zara and former rugby star Tindall and is now 22nd in the line of succession.

Like her cousin Savannah, Mia is known for her mischievous streak and clearly enjoys running around with her father and cousins at various horse competitions.

Zara Tindall made her eventing debut in 2003 on her horse Toytown – placing second at Burghley Horse Trials.

Earlier this year, the mother-of-three seemed emotional during an interview with husband Mike, in which she recalled Toytown was unable to compete in the Olympics.
