Dectus Medallion left and right locations in Elden Ring

Finding the Dectus Medallion locations in Elden Ring takes some effort – and more than a few risks – but the reward is worth it if you want safe passage to Altus Plateau.#

The Large lift from Dectus bypasses a mini-dungeon, dangerous cliff paths, and a tricky boss fight to deposit you (mostly) free of damage on the southern side of Altus Plateau.

Finding the item that activates the elevator is a bit of a mystery, but ours Dectus medallion locations The guide explains where to look and how to get both pieces without much hassle.

Dectus Medallion left Location

You can pick up the left half of the Medallion quite early in Elden Ring, with the location inside Fort Haight, found in the east of Limgrave. The map calls it Fort Haight West, which is a bit misleading. There is no eastern variant of the mini-fort, so the one in Limgrave is the only one you have to deal with.

The first challenge is actually reaching Fort Haight. Skeleton warriors with swords and shields block your way, and a ballista on top of the fortress walls will occasionally fire arrows at you. Use the wooden barricades for protection from the ballista and carefully make your way around the south side of the fortress.

Here you’ll find even more enemies, including a Mad Pumpkin with a pumpkin head and a flail on the steps, and a few knights walking around. Handle it carefully and make sure to grab the Golden Seed from the sapling in front of the stairs and activate the Site of Grace before entering.

In Fort Haight you’ll find even more enemies walking around: some wolves, a few skeletons with exploding pots, nothing too overwhelming until you reach the ramparts. If you’re struggling with enemies inside or outside the fortress, I recommend leveling up (our rune farming locations guide can help you here) and trying again. Aim for level 10 or higher, if you can. As tempting as it may be to use your Spirit Ashes to blast your way through, you’re better off saving your summons for the battle against the fortress mini-boss on the ramparts.

That boss is a knight who uses the Bloody Slash ability, which throws an arc of blood at you and, if it hits you too many times, causes the bleed status. Bleeding is a quick way to get back to the nearby Site of Grace, so focus on a defensive playstyle where you dodge, perform a few attacks, and retreat to safety. Magic users and those with ranged weapons will have an easier time, and if you have your Spirit Ash nearby you can slightly target the knight that isn’t you.

You’ll gain the Bloody Slash Ash of War – a useful ability that scales to Arcane and can inflict Bleed on your opponents – and complete Kenneth Haight’s quest after defeating the knight and clearing the fortress.

Before you leave, Turn right onto the battlements and climb the tower ladder. The left half of the Dectus Medallion is located at the top of a chest.

Dectus Medallion right Location

The right half of the medallion is a bit trickier to get on paper, but a neat trick and a bit of planned recklessness solved most of the problems. The The correct location of Dectus Medallion is in Fort Faroth, a location in Caelid on the Greyoll Dragonbarrow Site of Grace. If you haven’t been here yet, it’s an excellent spot for Rune farming in Elden Ring – as long as you don’t mind killing a defenseless ancient dragon to get them.

Fort Faroth itself is a bit of a nightmare. The ground floor is home to several bats, which stun you with sound waves, and harpies, which throw poison at you and, even at high levels, can turn you into an affected substance with just two or three hits. A build with high Vigor, Endurance, and Strength can probably speed through it and easily deal with the enemies within it, but if you assemble the Dectus Medallion early in the game you probably won’t have that build.

What you can do instead is let your Spirit Ashes suffer as you grab what you need. I recommend starting with no Runes or with a negligible amount that you don’t mind not getting back. Step inside, use the jellyfish or lone wolf call to distract the bats and harpies, and run to the back of the room. It’s almost literally a straight shot (take a gentle left turn after the first wall), so there’s little chance of you getting lost.

Climb the ladder, and Open the chest at the top to find the right half of the Dectus Medallion. In my experience, the enemies below will not follow you. You can try to escape over the roof behind you, although two ghostly knights will manifest and do their best to knock you down, or you can try to climb down and run through the ground level again.

If your ghost summoner is still nearby, they should divert attention from you while you leave. If not, there’s a significant chance you’ll get caught in a storm of bats, harpies, and poison – which, if you don’t have any Runes to lose, isn’t much of a problem.

Once you have both medallion halves, go to the Dectus Grand Lift on the north side of the Bellum Highway in Liurnia – found in the northeastern part of Liurnia of the Lakes, and not far from Caria Manor.

Activate the Site of Grace there, if you haven’t already, and step onto the circular platform between the four statues. The game asks you to lift the medallion, and then a cutscene plays where the elevator goes up and drops you off on the south side of the Altus Plateau – right behind two huge golem enemies. Ignore them, turn left and activate the nearby Point of Grace.

Now you’re free to wander across the plateau and eventually make your way to Leyndell, the royal capital, where surely only sunshine and fun things await you (spoilers: they don’t). Once the Site of Grace is activated, you no longer need to use the elevator or need the medallion.

Enjoy exploring a new region!
