Declan Rice said he’s played an “obscene” number of games in the past year, admitting the schedule left him feeling “crunchy” after every game.

Ahead of Anderlecht out in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, the West Ham and England favorite said: ‘I played 68 games from June (2021) to June (2022) last year. That’s an obscene number of games.’

West Ham are looking to maintain their perfect record in Europe this season after two group wins, and Rice added: “I’m not going into a game and not giving 100 per cent. Every game I walk away and I’m broken.

Rice, 23, has been a fixture at West Ham in recent years, having played 205 first-team appearances for the club.

The 23-year-old is a shoo-in for the England squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar

He is also expected to be selected in England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

West Ham are among the clubs facing a grueling month as they play nine games in October.

David Moyes’ team will receive Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday after the trip to Belgium to play against Anderlecht on Thursday.
