A passenger who asked a man to change seats so he could sit next to his wife sparked a furious debate over plane etiquette after being told “No.”

Melbourne couple Jay Kloss and his wife Zoe were separated in the business class section of a Virgin flight after failing to book two adjoining seats.

She sat in the window while he sat in the aisle in the same row on the opposite side of the plane.

Mr Kloss In a TikTok video, captioned “Am I wrong?”, he explains how he approached and politely asked if he could switch seats with the traveler sitting next to his wife.

‘Hey, would you mind moving over so I can sit with my lady? It’s her birthday,’ says Kloss.

And he just looks at me, doesn’t respond.

‘I was like, ‘Is it possible if you change here?’

“He said, ‘No, I won’t, but I’ll sit here (Zoe’s window seat).”

Mr. Kloss explains that Zoe “isn’t much of a flyer” and can get “super nauseous” so she always needs to sit near a window.

He went on to express his frustration in the viral video outraged that he was rejected.

“Either way, he’s getting the exact same spot (but) right across the hall. But he doesn’t accept that, he says, ‘No, I’m just moving here (Zoe’s window seat)’,” says Mr. Kloss.

‘So, he’s going to make us sit on both sides of the aisle, for no reason.

‘It’s the same seat, so anyway, I’m like, ‘Bro, really? Are you sure you can’t swap seats with us? And he just doesn’t answer me.

Mr. Kloss then says that Zoe asked the man to change seats.

‘Zoe says, ‘Hey, excuse me, is it possible for us to switch seats, is there some kind of problem? Today is my birthday, I would like to sit with my partner’.

“And he’s like, ‘No, no problem, I just don’t move.'”

‘Like what the hell? Am I missing something?

‘Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on here? It’s the same seat, just on a different side of the aisle.
