Channel Nine presenter Deb Knight has opened up about her health, her career and what she really thinks about new A Current Affair presenter Ally Langdon.
The 51-year-old journalist, who currently hosts Nine’s Money News, spoke exclusively to Daily Mail Australia this week and had only kind words about Ally.
‘I think she’s brilliant. Those are huge shoes to fill when you step into that role after Tracy Grimshaw,” Knight said.
Deb filled in for Langdon on the current affairs show last summer and was loved by the audience, with many viewers calling for her to become the regular presenter.
Despite many A Current Affair fans favoring Deb, she praised the work Ally has done following Grimshaw’s departure.

“Ally was fantastic. She has a huge resonance with the audience and the show is going from strength to strength.”
Deb, who has worked as both a newsreader and presenter on Nine’s Today, also said she misses co-host Karl Stefanovic.
‘Who wouldn’t miss Karl?! I’m still friends with everyone on Today. Karl is a good friend of mine. I talk to those guys regularly,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

One thing she definitely doesn’t miss about breakfast television, though, is the early morning start times.
‘I called the alarm time ‘stupid hour’. That was my official terminology for the alarm. It said a three or a four depending on whether you were breaking the early news,” she said.
Deb has also been vocal about raising awareness about health issues that the public too often takes for granted.

The news anchor also recently opened up about her experience with shingles.
In early 2022, she was diagnosed with shingles, a disease caused by the recurrence of chickenpox.
She told Daily Mail that she was shocked when she received the diagnosis from her doctor.
‘I wrongly assumed that shingles was something that old people got. I’m 50, but I didn’t think it was a younger person. I was quite shocked by that.’

Nearly all Australians over the age of 50 carry the inactive virus (varicella zoster virus) that causes shingles due to a previous chickenpox infection.
‘Because I had seen my doctor in time, I was able to be treated on time, and that was fortunate. I was lucky. If the rash had broken out closer to my eye… I mean, it could cause blindness. It’s very serious,” she said.
A survey conducted by GSK Australia found that while 62% of people perceive the impact of this disease as ‘extremely negative’, only 14% believe they are personally at high risk of developing shingles in their lifetime.

However, one in three people will suffer from shingles at some point in their lives.
Deb is also an outspoken critic of tanning, due to its link to melanoma risk.
Her message for young people who want a tanned look is ‘get it from a bottle’.
“Anyway, we need to stop glorifying the bronzed look,” she added, before praising Hollywood star Nicole Kidman for her “sun-friendly” measures.
‘When she is at home in Australia, she always stands under a big hat in the shade to protect her skin. We should idealize someone like her, instead of the people who lie in the sun for hours.”
