Dear Evan Hansen stars Ben Platt and Noah Galvin marry – after two year engagement
Broadway stars Ben Platt and Noah Galvin are married — after a two-year engagement.
The actors were married on Sunday, September 1, during a multi-day celebration surrounded by family and friends, which ultimately took place at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
“We couldn’t have asked for anything better,” Galvin, 30, said Fashion. ‘We’re still afloat. And we’re especially glad that we get to hang around forever.’
“Our greatest hope was to give everyone a joyful, stress-free weekend, full of warmth and a glimpse into our relationship and the life we are building,” Platt said.
“And we wanted the dancing to start,” the Los Angeles continued. “We feel like all missions are accomplished!”
Noah Galvin, 30, and Ben Platt, 30, tied the knot over Labor Day weekend during a multi-day celebration in New York City
The celebration began with a welcome dinner on Friday evening, Shabbat-based, at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in the Lower East Side of Downtown Manhattan.
There was also an afterparty with musical sing-along and on Saturday there was a games night.
“Because some of Ben’s family is Orthodox Jewish, we couldn’t get married until Sunday, after Shabbat. To keep the party going, we went to Cellar Dog in the West Village on Saturday night to play some games and eat Lombardi’s pizza,” the Good Doctor star explained.
All the fun and games culminated with the couple’s wedding, which was officiated by Platt’s rabbi, David Wolpee.
VIP guests included Beanie Feldstein, Kaitlyn Dever, Zoey Deutch and boyfriend Jimmy Tatro, partners Cynthia Erivo and Lena Waithe, Kathryn Gallagher, Younger stars Molly Bernard and Tessa Albertson, Broadway star Micaela Diamond, Owen Thiele and Eve Lindley. The band Muna made a special surprise appearance!
The ceremony concluded with a duet from their mothers singing a classic Jewish wedding song.
“And then we both stepped on glasses,” Galvin confessed of the moment. “And they broke, thank God!”

The couple hosted a Shabbat welcome dinner, a garden ceremony in Red Hook, a game night and an afterparty with sing-along music prior to the wedding ceremony
Platt admitted that his “highlight of the evening” was the “surprise concert by our all-time favorite band Muna,” as reported by Entertainment weekly.
“At that point, our souls left our bodies and we haven’t come back yet,” he said. “We’ll never be able to repay them. They even brought Noah’s brother Adrian — aka Yoke Lore — in to finish the set with them on Silk Chiffon.”
The duo first met in 2014, when Galvin and some mutual friends were creating a web series and asked Platt to guest star.
“We first met while filming with a small crew in his mother’s old apartment, improvising together,” Platt recalled of their first collaboration. “I played his weird roommate who loved cacti and cried over his distant cousin Josh Groban. Noah was a medium in it.”
Having met years earlier, Noah Galvin would take over the title role in the Broadway film Dear Evan Hansen from his future husband, who originated the role himself; Galvin is seen taking a bow after a performance in November 2017
The duo gained national fame for their portrayals of the title character in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Platt originally originated the role during its premiere performance at the Music Box Theatre in 2016, which earned him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
But the following year, Galvin was named as a temporary replacement for the title role.
In November 2017, he officially took over the role from Evan Hansen and continued in that role until February 4, 2018.
Platt’s film resume includes the film series Pitch Perfect (2012-2017), Ricki and the Flash (2015), Run This Town (2019) and Theater Camp. In recent years, he starred in the Netflix series The Politician (2019-2020).
Galvin’s film credits include Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart (2019), the sitcom The Real O’Neals (2016-2017), and the medical drama The Good Doctor (2020-2024).
