Dean McDermott, despite clearing a recent breakup, remains determined to separate from wife Tori Spelling.
The 56-year-old actor is “100 percent serious” about ending his marriage to Spelling, 50, who he’s been married to since 2006, according to an article on Wednesday by People.
‘[Dean] 100 percent want to get out of the marriage. He took the pole down because Tori didn’t want him to go on like this. But he is packing his bags and is taking it 100 percent seriously,” a source told the newspaper.
The insider added that McDermott has not moved out of their shared home for financial reasons and has not yet found an apartment that he “pays for.”
‘He can’t take it anymore. He told her he’s done,” the source said.
He’s done: Dean McDermott, shown earlier this month with wife Tori Spelling in Los Angeles, remains determined to divorce her despite deleting a recent breakup post
McDermott took to Instagram last Friday and shared a since-deleted post about his and Spelling’s breakup.
Spelling did not acknowledge Dean via social media for Father’s Day on Sunday.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 star is mom to five with McDermott — Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, six. McDermott is also father to son, Jack, 24, who he shares with ex, Mary Jo Eustace.
Spelling has yet to say anything publicly in the wake of McDermott confusing fans after he deleted an Instagram post announcing that they had decided to split after 18 years, less than 24 hours after first breaking up with his followers had shared.
In the original post, McDermott said he and Spelling have vowed to “work together as loving parents” to their five children and shared an old photo.
He wrote, “It is with great sadness and a very, very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 wonderful kids, @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways and start a new journey of our own.
“As loving parents, we will continue to work together to guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness.”
Insiders told People on Monday, McDermott’s statement felt “really out of the blue” as the couple have seemingly been doing better lately.

“Their friends have seen their ups and downs over the years, but they really seemed to be in a good place these past few months,” says a source. “If this had happened a year ago it would have been to be expected as things were terrible between them.
“Sure, they still disagreed and didn’t always agree, but for the past six months things have felt good between them.”
A family insider told the publication that McDermott and Spelling “have definitely been trying for the past few months, and things have felt a lot less toxic.”
“They also went out of their way to make holidays and milestones special and were much more attuned to each other. It has been a night and day difference from the past few years.’
Another insider insisted the duo is “not getting a divorce” and “are better than ever,” according to Us weekly.
“They’ve had their ups and downs like any couple, but [they] have continued to work on their marriage through couples therapy. They love each other and don’t break up.’
According to the insider, friends of the couple think McDermott was forced to make the announcement after potentially getting into a huge fight with Spelling.
“He obviously regretted it, so he deleted the post,” the source said.
Age 18: Tori and Dean met and started their affair while working on a Lifetime movie in 2005 – when they were both married to other people. They were married on May 7, 2006 (pictured in 2005)
The split post comes after years of claims that the power couple were on the rocks, a rumor they recently dispelled when Tori shared a photo of them with their kids.
She thanked the Beverly Hills hotel for their hospitality, writing, “Family time is the best time and @beverlyhilton you always continue to make us feel like a real family. We love you! xoxo.’
Tori previously married actor Charlie Shanian in 2004, but the former couple divorced in 2006 after the actress met Dean.
Tori and Dean met and started their affair while working on a Lifetime movie in 2005 – when they were both married to other people.
The stars married in a private ceremony in Fiji on May 7, 2006, less than a month after Tori finalized her divorce from Charlie and after Dean divorced Mary.
The couple stayed together despite being plagued by divorce rumors and reports of financial problems over the years. They also starred in the reality series titled Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood which aired from 2007 to 2012.
In late 2013, it was revealed that McDermott was having an affair with Spelling, but the two chose to work through the infidelity to keep their marriage intact.
However, the BH90210 actress admitted in 2021 Jeff Lewis Live from SiriusXMthat both she and her husband slept in separate beds.
Happy Family: Just days ago, Tori and Dean put up a united front with four of their children in tow
She told Lewis during the interview, “Right now my kids and dogs are sleeping in my bed,” adding that Dean was “in a room.”
A source told Entertainment tonight at the time, Tori and Dean “do things as a family for the sake of their children and live in the same house but sleep in separate rooms.” Tori is more outspoken about what’s going on between them, and Dean’s just completely checked out.”
The insider continued that the two stars were “really struggling,” explaining, “Dean has been caught in so many lies and infidelities over the years and Tori is just over it.
“Dean doesn’t want a divorce for financial reasons and Tori doesn’t want a divorce because of their family,” the source said.
In June 2022, it was alleged that Tori and Dean – who married in 2006 – had split, with a source telling UsWeekly that they were “proceeding with a trial separation.”
It was shared at the time: “She doesn’t do social things anymore. She seems to isolate herself. She’s been so MIA that they’re afraid something is up — if she has money problems again or is depressed,” the source said.
Earlier this year in March, a separate source gave an update on their relationship and told ET, “they’re still trying their best to make it work.”
Shock: This comes after years of claims that the power couple were on the rocks, a rumor they dispelled just a day ago, when Tori shared a photo of them with their kids
The insider said: ‘Marriage counseling has been a big part of how they try to work things out, and so far it’s been going pretty well.
“Their children are doing well. Everyone is doing their best to keep their heads above water, to live as normal a life as possible and to stay happy.’
When Tori lost her father Aaron in 2006, she infamously inherited only $800,000 of his massive fortune estimated at $600 million.
Tori’s mother Candy, who was the executor of Aaron’s estate, told the New York Times that her daughter got so little because of her extravagance.
She said Tori would “close shop and drop $50,000 to $60,000,” emphasizing, “I’ve never done anything like it.” She just went crazy.’
Tori shared in her own 2013 book Spelling It Like It Is that she was forced to learn how to tighten the purse strings — but not without discomfort.
She wrote, “It’s not my fault I’m an uptown girl stuck in an inner city life. I was raised in luxury. My demands are ridiculously high. We can’t afford that lifestyle, but when you grow up with a silver spoon, it’s hard to go for plastic.’
