Dean McDermott praises ex Tori Spelling as a ‘highly evolved’ and ‘loving person’ as he defends her from internet troll

Dean McDermott came to ex Tori Spelling’s defense this week after an internet troll criticized her for liking an Instagram photo of Dean and new girlfriend Lil Calo.

When a social media user commented under the 57-year-old actor’s post and said, “The fact that Tori liked this is baffling,” he quickly clapped back.

“It’s because she is a highly developed, compassionate, loving person, and that’s much more [than] I can say it for the trolls commenting on this post,” Dean replied.

He added, “Tori has a boyfriend. People get divorced and are better apart [than] together. That’s life. I will pray for happiness for all the haters.”

McDermott went Instagram official with Calo days ago, sharing two photos from their date night at Magic Castle.

Dean looked handsome in a dark pinstripe suit and white button-up shirt.

He lovingly wrapped an arm around Lily, who joined him in a black pinstriped dress.

A second photo showed Calo lovingly planting a kiss on the television star’s cheek.

Not long after sharing the images to his Instagram grid, Tori gave the relationship her blessing by liking the post.

The ex-spouses announced their separation last June.

Last March, Spelling officially filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The two share five children: Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, seven.

McDermott was first linked to Lily in October 2023, when they were spotted holding hands during an outing in Los Angeles.

He appeared to have moved in with Calo in January when he was seen carrying boxes into her home.

Dean’s public defense of Tori comes after he responded to her divorce filing on Monday by filing his own legal documents.

The actor resisted his estranged wife’s bid for sole custody of their children and requested joint physical and legal custody, according to court documents obtained by Page six.

Dean also sought spousal support for himself, while asking the court to terminate Tori’s spousal support, which mirrored her original request.

Both parties are also asking the other party to cover their respective attorneys’ fees.
