Deadpool has finally joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s clearly taking full advantage of the licensing rights and cameos that that kind of prestige brings. In the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverinewhich debuted Sunday during the Super Bowl, Marvel’s favorite mercenary team up with Wolverine to take on the entire multiverse.
The trailer opens with a sunburned, but apparently happy, Wade Wilson throwing a birthday party, which seems to indicate that this isn’t the Wade from the last two Deadpool films. But shortly after the cake arrives, the Time Variance Authority also comes out Lokiwho take him some, he may be told that saving the MCU is up to him – although we’re not quite sure how yet.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release on July 26 and is currently Disney’s only Marvel film scheduled for 2024. The final installment in the Deadpool trilogy is directed and co-written by Shawn Levy (Free guy). In addition to the cameos we’ve already seen (including Aaron Stanford from the original trilogy, who returns as Pyro), the film features appearances from Emma Corrin (Murder at the end of the world), Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), And Reportedly Patrick Stewart and more. Of course, there will also be a few returning Deadpool characters, like Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa.
One rumored cameo that hasn’t been revealed is Taylor Swift, who still may or may not appear in the film as the pop star superhero Dazzler. While Swift’s inclusion may be confusing at first, it may help to know that Ryan Reynold’s wife, Blake Lively, is good friends with Swift.
