Dead by Daylight adds Alan Wake to the cast

Dead by daylight Developer Behavior Interactive revealed the next survivor coming to its asymmetrical multiplayer horror game: Alan Wake. Behavior was posted on Monday a simple but clear teaser with a flashlight cutting through the darkness and lying next to some blood-splattered pages.

The studio on Tuesday confirmed that Alan Wake will join the Dead by daylight universe later this month.

The star of Remedy Entertainment’s psychological thriller/survival horror series is known for using flashlights to burn away the darkness of his enemies. In Dead by daylightAlan’s flashlight will be a core part of his kit. Here are his abilities, such as described by Behavior:

Champion of light

While holding a flashlight, this benefit activates. If you shine a flashlight, you are 50% in a hurry. If you successfully blind the assassin, he also gains 20% hinder for 6 seconds. This effect cannot be stacked with itself. This extra is then cooled for 80/70/60 seconds.

Boon: Enlightenment

Press and hold the button Option button 1 near a Dull or Hex Totem to bless it and create a Boon Totem. Soft bells sound within a range of 24 meters. Survivors within range of your blessing totem will see the aura of all chests and all generators in blue. If you have an illuminated blessing totem, cleanse or bless your totems 6/8/10% faster. You can only bless one totem at a time. All equipped bean benefits are active on your Boon Totem.

Deadline

This benefit activates when you are injured. Skill checks appear 6/8/10% more often when repairing or healing and appear in random places. The penalty for missing skill checks is reduced by 50%.

Dead by daylight already features flashlights as an item that survivors can use to blind or otherwise disrupt assassins’ abilities. However, Alan Wake’s use of a torch in his original game of the same name and last year’s sequel was much more intense than that, and will be a powerful tool in a Survivor kit.

The Alan Wake chapter of Dead by daylight officially goes live on January 30th.

Behavior Interactive recently added Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise Dead by daylight as a murderer. The most recent licensed Survivor to be added was Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise.

Update (January 9): This story has been updated with official details and a teaser trailer announcing the addition of Alan Wake Dead by daylight.
