The body of a dead baby was found late Sunday night on the University of Tampa campus.
The child’s remains were located near McKay Hall, a dormitory used by freshmen, reports FoxTampa Bay.
The station aired footage showing the Tampa Police Department’s forensic unit examining the scene near the dormitory, which is located in the center of campus.
Students received a notification from school officials announcing that there was an ongoing investigation at McKay Hall and that they should avoid the scene.
The baby’s cause of death has not been made public. “The circumstances surrounding the baby’s death are under investigation,” a brief police statement said.
Officials also said there is no exceptional threat to the public.
