De Bruyne shoves Mikel Arteta and points in his face after Arsenal manager shields the ball from him

Kevin de Bruyne pushed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after the Spaniard kicked the ball at him during the Premier League clash on Wednesday night.

De Bruyne was looking to take a quick throw-in during Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal, but the Gunners boss blocked and deflected it.

De Bruyne was furious with Arteta and lashed out with a push to the 40-year-old Spaniard’s chest before running off to collect the ball.

De Bruyne collected the ball next to the Arsenal bench and returned to the sideline.

He exchanged words with Arteta on the way and pointed a finger at the Arsenal manager before returning to the subject.

Arsenal backroom staff were also seen jumping to Arteta’s defense during the encounter with the Belgium international.

Ally McCoist spoke about the situation shortly after it occurred. The Scotland legend said she knew exactly what Arteta was trying to achieve, but she admitted the push was “unfair”.

Speaking on Amazon Prime, McCoist said: “I know what he was doing with Arteta, but I’m not sure he deserved that reaction.”

Arsenal fans were disappointed in De Bruyne and made their feelings known when he left the pitch after being substituted.

One bottle in particular came close to hitting the midfielder after Pep Guardiola decided it was time to rest his star player.

As he rounded the corner flag, a bottle can be seen pointed at his head, only for De Bruyne to move out of the way at the last moment to avoid contact with it.

Bruyne took to Instagram shortly after the game to mock the situation. She shared two images. The first one had a caption that read: ‘Beer anyone?’.

The second image showed him walking back to the dugout with a cup flying towards his head. The midfielder added ‘Thank you’ to the caption.
