A homeless man in Washington DC whose heartbreaking story was shared on TikTok – generating $400,000 in donations – is reportedly a wife beater who was filmed assaulting a victim outside a church.

Alonzo Douglas Hebron has a lengthy criminal record and has been in and out of prison for years, according to a new report. He went viral after a young woman on the street bought him a cup of tea.

Sanai Graden, a fashion intern and student at UC Berkeley, came across Hebron and ended up buying him a hot drink, spending the day with him, buying him medicine, and giving him a hotel room to stay in – while he documented a five-hour meeting. for her TikTok audience.

Her video has been viewed a whopping 31.6 million times – and she has raised almost half a million dollars for the homeless man. But since his viral moment, victims from his past have spoken out about his violent, criminal history.

According to FOX 5Hebron is a criminal – who was seen placing a scarf over his victim’s head as she slept outside the Foundry United Methodist Church in DC in June 2020.

The homeless man then began hitting the woman’s face and body for several minutes.

His alleged victim told the outlet, “First of all – kudos to the woman who did this.

“She meant well, and I applaud her for that. I know it was a lot of work for her to do that, but she portrays him as something that he just isn’t.”

The woman added: ‘I’m speechless. I don’t understand how a person can behave like this. He’s a sociopath. He has no sense of regret.

‘I’ve been struggling ever since. I am an alcoholic in recovery. Last week I was married for 18 months and the last two days I came close, but I didn’t because he’s not worth it.’

She added that Hebron is known as a dangerous individual within DC’s homeless community.

The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, said: ‘Why is he on the street? How many people does he have to hurt before – I’m sorry – he’s locked up for good.

‘He won’t stop. I don’t know what they’re waiting for.’

Hebron was also sentenced to five years in prison for assault in 2012 after being convicted of stabbing a man in the neck with a screwdriver. He also escaped from a halfway house in June 2023, FOX 5 reports.

In response to Graden’s goodwill video, she created a GoFundMe for the homeless man.

In just seven days, the amount rose to $403,900, before news emerged that Hebron has a troubling criminal history.

The student wrote on the page: ‘I was stopped by a friendly man who asked for tea. He didn’t ask for money, he just wanted tea.

‘I offered him to walk with me to the supermarket. After walking and talking, he decided to open up about his current situation. I learned that he is homeless, has no family and currently has prostate cancer.

‘I then offered him food, but he didn’t want to accept it. I told him if he needed anything to let me know. He said he needs to refill his medications, which should help with the pain he is experiencing.

“That’s when I decided to document my entire five-hour trip through DC with my shopping cart and his suitcase.

‘I asked where he was staying and he said a church. I didn’t want to send him to church under these circumstances. So I decided to get him a hotel room.

‘When we arrived, the hotel found it difficult to let him check in because he has no ID. After being convinced, they decided to check him in. I then helped him get settled and gave him some money to ensure he was fed.

“I am grateful to have this platform to change someone’s life with the help of your husband. I plan to use the money to make sure he has a place to live, new clothes, shoes, a bank account, doctor appointments, a phone, etc.”

As a result of her good intentions, the public decided to create a funding page for the student in an effort to pay for her tuition. That donation page raised $19,740 in six days.
