Days Of Our Lives sees THREE old faces from the 1980s RETURN – as two new stars are added and one actor replaced amid cast reshuffle

Days Of Our Lives sees three old faces from the 1980s return to the show, amid a series of dramatic changes to the cast.

Two new stars have been added to the long-running soap opera in roles not currently announced to the public.

Meanwhile, an actor has decided to leave the show and study as a full-time student, forcing his role to be recast.

But the three ’80s stalwarts returning to Salem are sure to delight the dedicated fanbase that Days Of Our Lives has acquired over the decades.

All three of them starred in the soap opera for years – and one of them even sang a hit that became inextricably linked to the series.

Gloria Loring, who played lounge singer Liz Chandler from 1980 to 1986, will return to Days Of Our Lives in the near future.

During her original participation in the program, she and Carl Anderson sang a duet called Friends And Lovers on the air – and the song became a runaway hit single.

As the show progressed, the song became the theme for Charles Shaughnessy and Patsy Pease’s love characters Shane Donovan and Kimberly Brady.

Gloria, Alan Thicke’s ex-wife and Robin Thicke’s mother, returns to Days Of Our Lives for the first time in 38 years.

Deidre Hall, who has appeared occasionally on Days Of Our Lives since 1976, announced the news earlier this month in the YouTube series The Lacher Room.

Another returning player from the 1980s is Melissa Reeves, who returns to the role of Jennifer Horton, which she has played on and off for almost four decades.

Her first appearance on the series lasted ten years, from 1985 to 1995, and she has since reprized the role repeatedly, most recently as a guest from 2021 to 2022.

Now Melissa returns for a Thanksgiving episode of the series that will serve as an in memoriam for her late co-star Bill Hayes.

Bill, who played recurring character Doug Williams from 1970, died in January at the age of 98, just months after his final appearance on the program.

Melissa confirmed this TV insider last week that she would return to the role of Jennifer Horton to honor Bill in November.

“I heard about Bill, which was just devastating for all of us. I was like, “I wonder if they’re going to do tribute shows,” she explained.

Matthew Ashford, who plays Jennifer’s ex Jack Devereaux, asked her: “Would you ever consider going back?” And I said, ‘Matt, I think about Days all the time.'”

She noted that the show was “where I grew up and spent my life, basically from when I was 18 until now. So it always has a place in my heart and it always will, for me and for my family.”

Stephen confirmed his return on The Lacher Room last month, but gave no details other than that he would be in “a few episodes.”

He did not specify whether these episodes would involve the Bill Hayes monument, as their characters were brothers-in-law.

Amid the recent cast reshuffling on Days Of Our Lives, two completely new actors are being integrated into the world of the series.

Last week, the soap opera’s official Instagram page announced the casting of Cherie Jimenez and Al Calderon, teasing, “Hmmmm, who could they be?!?!”

Al was pictured in a crop top and Cherie in a figure-hugging crimson cocktail dress as the pair clung to each other and still smiled at their Days Of Our Lives publicity.

Jamie gave up the role to devote himself to completing his college education at the University of Michigan.

He concluded that “travel back and forth would have been a significant hindrance [obtaining a] musical theater degree,” he explained.

“I also think it wouldn’t have been fair to the show and to my fellow castmates if I didn’t spend the time necessary to [the job]’ he added Soap Opera Digest.
