Days after Meghan Markle teases her American brand of strawberry jam Buckingham Palace posts ad for its strawberry preserves

Are the royal butter knives out for Meghan Markle?

Just days after the Duchess of Sussex teased her lifestyle brand by sending numbered jars of her strawberry jam to 50 of her closest influencers, the official store of Buckingham Palace has come up with an advert for its own thoroughly royal strawberry preserves.

Last week, Meghan, 42, relied on her high-profile friends to share images of the hand-tied jars of American Riviera Orchard jam nestled in a bowl of oranges.

Today, the official Buckingham Palace Shop account posted its own take on the sweet preserve in a video shared with their 557,000 Instagram followers.

Perhaps set emphatically to music from Mozart’s Dissonance Quartet, the reel suggests four very British ways to enjoy the product that, the magazine claims, is made with only the finest British berries.

And while Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard products will sport a logo that many have noted for its striking resemblance to a royal coat of arms, Buckingham Palace’s version comes with the real thing.

Stamped on the side of each $4 pot, which retails for £3.95 and ships internationally, is the royal coat of arms which bears the motto of the Order of the Garter: ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense ‘, meaning ‘shame’. on him that thinks evil of it.’

No price has yet been announced for Markle’s jam, nor is it known if it will go into mass production. But branding experts have pointed out a similarity between American Riviera Orchard’s aesthetic and that of ultra-exclusive food brand Flamingo Estates, which sells jars of LeBron James or Julianne Moore honey for an eye-watering $250 each.

In his post, which might as well carry the hashtag #jamwars, the palace helpfully stirs the pot, suggesting customers enjoy their jam ‘On a scone as part of a cream tea. On a crumpet. With a croissant. On toast.’

The oh-so-subtle sting in the tail of this sweet post doesn’t seem to have been lost on the many viewers. One of the most common responses so far is: “Buckingham Palace over Montecito every day.”

Last week, DailyMail.com revealed that filming had begun for Markel’s latest Netflix project – a cooking house in which she promises to invite viewers into the kitchen. Just don’t expect the kitchen to be hers.

Instead, as seen in these exclusive photos from DailyMail.com, the Duchess of Domesticity has set up her stall in a sprawling property two miles from the Montecito mansion she and Prince Harry, 39, share with children Archie , 4, and Lilibet, 2. and their rotating cast of personnel.

Just days after meticulously numbering 50 jars of homemade strawberry jam and sending them to dozens of her closest influencers, filming has begun in earnest on 42-year-old Meghan’s latest venture.

While Meghan's American Riviera Orchard products will sport a logo that many have noted for its striking resemblance to a royal coat of arms, Buckingham Palace's version comes with the real thing.

When contacted by DailyMail.com, Sherrie Cipolla declined to comment on the purpose of the film crew currently camped out in her home.

The family room and kitchen with French doors opening onto a patio, lawn and mountains, Caesartone worktops and the 48-inch Thermador range, appropriately enough, form the centerpiece of the Montecito property in which the Duchess of Sussex will hone her carefully curated image. of domestic goddess.

Here, from the comfort of someone else’s home, she will share ‘the joys of cooking, gardening, entertainment and friendship’, as well as looking for ratings.

Last month, DailyMail.com revealed the staggering amount of products Meghan plans to sell as founder of American Riviera Orchard – named because the coastal enclave of Montecito is known to its wealthy residents as the American Riviera.

If you can dream it, chances are Meghan will sell it.
