Detective Senior Sergeant Anthony Thompson addressed the media on Saturday afternoon and confirmed they believe it was a targeted attack.
“At this stage we believe the incident is the result of an internal gang issue between the Hells Angels and a former member,” Detective Senior Sergeant Thompson said.
“The parties involved are known to each other and the possibility that this incident is the result of a retaliation issue is certainly an avenue we are investigating.”
Mr Brajkovic was reportedly expelled from the Hells Angels in January 2022 after allegedly assaulting the then club chairman.
He was seen leaving RPH early Saturday morning with his wife Jacinta and a large bandage on his throat, before his vehicle was followed by a police detail.
Detective Senior Sergeant Thompson said detectives must have seen fit to escort Mr Brajkovic from a public area.
'We have ongoing concerns for his safety, but anyone considering attacking the victim should reconsider as we are taking a number of measures to ensure his safety and ensure that any person who attacks him is appropriately recorded . ,' he said.
Shortly after the attack, a group was seen fleeing Kings Park on motorcycles.

Before he became Australia's most recognizable cyclist, Brajkovich was a fresh-faced teenager, without a tattoo in sight
