Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Maya Rudolph, and Sarah Paulson stun in dramatic gowns as they lead the stars at 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Da’Vine Joy Randolph looked stunning as she led the stars alongside Sarah Paulson and Maya Rudolph at the second night of the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The glamorous trio hit the red carpet at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, celebrating Hollywood’s behind-the-scenes talent in directing, editing, casting, costumes and production design.

Oscar winner Da’Vine, 38, turned heads in a strapless, sparkly dress and flashed a huge smile for photographers.

Former American Horror Story actress Sarah, 49, exuded refined elegance in a navy blue dress with white polka dots, while SNL icon Maya, 52, sparkled in a metallic black ankle-length gown.

The actresses were among a host of celebrities, including Kristen Wiig and Jamie Lee Curtis, who attended the second night of the Creative Arts Emmy gala, which focused on scripted programming, with FX’s Shogun leading the nominations with 25 nods.

Composer Atticus Ross is just one win away from EGOT status: just a Tony Award away from achieving this prestigious achievement.

Jamie Lee Curtis won the award for her guest role in season two of FX’s The Bear.

Her last nomination was in 1998 for Nicholas’ Gift.

The first night concluded with the presentation of awards in 50 categories. Angela Bassett won the award for best narrator for her work on National Geographic’s Queens, and Maya won for her voice acting in the Netflix animated series Big Mouth.

Other winners included Alan Cummingm, who won the award for Best Presenter of a Reality or Reality Competition Programme for his work on The Traitors, and Pat Sajak, who won the award for Best Presenter of a Game Show.

Basset achieved her first victory after nine nominations at the event.

The Black Panther actress told the audience: “It feels good, really good.”

“Thank you to National Geographic, Wild Star Film, and all the directors — all women — who brought us this incredible story, this incredible docuseries about the wild and magnificent things in the animal kingdom. I couldn’t be more excited and grateful,” she said in her acceptance speech.

The seven-part series delves into the fascinating world of animal matriarchies around the world.

Notably, the production team is made up entirely of women, which Bassett called a “major draw and highlight.”

Jimmy Kimmel, who won an EP for the Oscars, was accompanied by his wife Molly McNearney, who sparkled in an elegant black dress.

Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke tied the record for oldest winner of the Creative Arts Emmys at age 98, for best variety special, ‘Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic.’

Van Dyke’s win places him alongside the late Norman Lear as the oldest recipient of a Creative Arts Emmy. Lear previously held the record before his 2020 win at age 98.

“Thank you, that reception, I can’t tell you what it means,” Van Dyke told the audience, as People.

“I’m turning 99 next month,” she added, before showing off some dance moves.

He also addressed his wife Arlene Silver, 52, who joined him onstage as a producer of the special.

“The young lady who got this award, you might think of the word nepotism and I would understand it, but this lady got the job all by herself as producer of the Dick Van Dyke special because she knows me inside and out, and knows how I work, and doesn’t accept any rudeness from anybody. Arlene Van Dyke!”

Arlene then said to her husband, “Thank you so much. It’s been an honor to spend my life with you… We had four nominations who put their love, heart and soul into the show. In your honor, you have created endless joy and playfulness for generations to come.”

In a fitting farewell before his retirement from Wheel of Fortune , Pat Sajak won his first Outstanding Host for a Game Show Emmy Award. He will soon hand over the hosting reins to Ryan Seacrest on September 9.

It is his first Emmy win in this category since 1998 and his 23rd nomination overall.
