Davina McCall’s show My Mum, Your Dad returns with Love Island inspired private Hideaway where parents can have sex without being filmed

ITV has made its new series of My Mum, Your Dad sexier by introducing a new Love Island-style Hideaway where singles can get intimate – without being filmed.

The second installment of the popular dating show, called Middle Age Love Island, kicks off this month with a fresh batch of mature singles looking for a second chance at love.

Four men and four women will once again live in a luxury country retreat in Midhurst, West Sussex, but this time around producers are hoping for more action between the sheets with the addition of ‘Snug.’

There are no cameras in the new room, so participants don’t have to worry about their children watching the footage from another location and seeing what they’re up to.

Presenter Davina McCall is excited about the new intimate space, saying: ‘There’s a ‘snack bar’ and the adults, well we call them adults, can go there and have a bit of a time…

“But there’s also a disconnect switch that you can use to disconnect the bunker. So the kids watch it in the Snug and it goes dead.”

During a Q&A session ahead of the show’s launch in London this week, Davina (56) said this year’s line-up of adult singles is more open about sex.

She even revealed that her daughter Livia begged her to stop her mother Maria from talking openly about her sex life.

During an on-camera interview with the mother and daughter, Maria admitted that she would rather “finish herself” rather than find a potential partner on dating apps to satisfy her sexual desires.

Later, on a first date, she admitted that her relationships after her breakup with her husband had been mostly physical and that she had enjoyed sex a lot as a single woman.

Davina explains: ‘It’s clear that as Maria’s daughter you already found it bad that she talked about sex. Just wait and see.’

“It’s meme central. She basically begged me to say ‘stop talking to my mom’ and I said ‘I can’t do that, it’s a reality show, it has to be real, this is who your mom is.’

Other contestants include a lonely father who talks to his child every night via FaceTime while he cooks dinner, and another father who cheated on his wife but then became unfaithful himself, breaking his heart.

Davina believes My Mum, Your Dad helps to break down taboos surrounding adult dating and gives singles the chance to return to the original behaviours they felt they were forced to adopt while raising their children.

She said: ‘This is one of the funny things about being a midlifer now, because in our age group we are the first of a new generation of midlifers.

‘We’re the people who went to raves, we went to illegal raves, we did drugs, and basically we were pioneers, we were naughty and fun, and we were outrageous… and then we had kids.

‘We settled down and we were good people for 15 years, 18 if you’re lucky. And when your kids turn 18, you’re like, okay, let’s go again.

“It’s like getting a second chance at life, but we’re showing their children their second chance at life.”

Mum My, Your Dad was a huge success with audiences during its debut series last year.

The series produced a couple, Roger Hawes and Janey Smith. The former was a widower whose daughter encouraged him to enlist and find love again.

The authenticity was also praised, with viewers convinced that the contestants had taken part for genuine reasons, rather than to boost their social media profiles, something Love Islanders are often accused of.

Davina says My Mum, Your Dad is more of a ‘relationship show’ than a classic dating series because it connects on much deeper levels.

She explained: ‘We like to call it a relationship show rather than a dating show because it’s more than a dating show. It’s layered.

‘It’s not just about the matching and we find very deep connections in this series, but also about looking at the relationships between parent and child, because the parents now know that their children are watching. This creates a very nice trust between parent and child.

“Now you can send messages from your child to your parent while they’re on a date. The tears flow instantly because you know the message is coming from your child and not a relationship expert.”

Davina not only praises the touching aspects of the show, but also appreciates the fun aspects, especially the children’s reactions when their parents get ‘naughty’.

She added: The most embarrassing part for the kids is the intimacy, right? And it never gets boring.

‘Seeing kids die while their parents are being naughty is really funny. But at the same time, as a parent, you think I don’t want my kids to see that… they’re on a retreat to meet someone and if you don’t kiss them, how do you know if you’re going to get hot in your pants?

“That’s where the magic happens. But oh my God, the kids… it’s always funny. There’s kisses.”
