Davina McCall lets slip that Josie Gibson ‘fancies’ one of the parents on her new dating show My Mum, Your Dad

Davina McCall revealed that Josie Gibson is ‘fantasizing’ one of the contestants on her new dating show Your Mum, My Dad.

Appearing on This Morning on Wednesday, the presenter revealed that the blonde beauty had her eye on one of the fathers, widower Roger, 58.

Discussing the new ITV programme, dubbed ‘the middle age Love Island’, Josie said it is a great idea as life ‘gets lonely’ without a partner.

Speaking to Josie and Holly Willoughby, Davina said: ‘I feel like midlifers are sometimes largely overlooked or ignored, which is old-fashioned thinking. We are different than two generations ago.

“Unfortunately, divorce statistics are high and we’re not very good at dating apps. There will come a point where you want to come to someone’s house and watch TV with someone and that’s why the show is good. It’s lonely when your children leave home.’

Josie replied: ‘It’s lonely, every time I go through a dark place Davina shows up’.

Davina revealed: ‘Roger is the one you like Josie’.

Josie burst out laughing and said, “Shhh.”

Davina continued: ‘Roger lost his wife and his daughter taking him to the retreat is like saying ‘it’s okay.’

Davina explained the differences between Love Island and her new show and emphasized that there are no games.

She said: ‘I love Love Island and we’re all obsessed, but this is different and you can love both. In the end, there’s no money, no camera in the bedroom, and no career when you get out, except hopefully finding love.

“It’s scary to think that I’ve put up these walls and you can turn it around. What we have shown is that if you work on yourself, you can change and let someone in nicely.

‘They’re all friends. There are no games and no one cares. They arrived all glammed up and the next morning there they are without any makeup. It doesn’t matter, it’s beautiful and real.’

Elsewhere on the daytime show, Josie and Davina couldn’t contain their laughter as they watched the first time they met 13 years ago, when Josie was chosen to take part in Big Brother.

The TV star, who won series 11 of the reality show in 2010, was hilariously seen jumping for joy when her name was called.

Davina added, “YYou’re the most real person I know, that’s why you won. Nothing is written, the only person you speak to is the diary room. It’s really real.’

My mother, your father has captured the hearts of a nation after Roger shared the heartbreaking story of losing his wife to cancer just 18 months ago.

Postman Roger stole the show on a first date with single mum Caroline in the show’s opening episode when he told how his wife Joanne, 52, went to sleep on the sofa and never woke up.

In an emotional clip, Roger, who had three children with Joanne, told Caroline about their date: ‘We were on holiday in Italy and I just looked behind her ear, and it annoyed her – just a little spot behind her ear.

“I said, ‘You need to get that checked out when you get back,’ and she did. She was seen very quickly and it was melanoma. But little did she know that by then the cancer had gone to her brain.”

And speaking about his late wife on ITV this morning, he explained that she wanted him to find someone new: ‘She was perfect. To send a message and she still has control over me… I wasn’t surprised when I heard what she said.”

On his first date in 40 years, he told Lorraine: ‘I think I was very lucky that it was Caroline, she helped me through it because I was very nervous.’

Roger continued: ‘She said ‘I’m really tired’, and I said ‘come on, I’ll put you to bed or do you want to sit on the sofa?’, and she said ‘put me on the sofa”. Then I come in half an hour later and of course I should have called an ambulance straight away.’

Caroline, moved to tears by the story, replied, “But you wouldn’t have known that.”

Roger said, “She’d had breast cancer about three or four years ago, and she’d gotten over it before.”

Roger had admitted that he wasn’t ready to date when he first joined the show.

The dad was nominated to appear on the program by his daughter Jess, who also appears as he tries to find love alongside seven other single people.
