David Warner took another individual honor on Friday, becoming the first player to represent Australia 100 times across all three formats of the sport.
Warner, 37, looked on course for a blistering century in his landmark match, plundering 70 from just 36 balls at the top of the order as the hosts smashed 213 in their T20 opener against the West Indies in Hobart.
The tourists responded well and scored runs with ease in the first few overs, but ultimately fell eleven runs short after losing a number of wickets late in the match.
When key man Nicholas Pooran was caught on the boundary by Sean Abbott off Adam Zampa’s bowling in the 15th over, Australian cricket great Mark Waugh did not mince his words in the commentary box.
“That’s just very, very stupid cricket, there’s no other way to put it,” Waugh told Fox Cricket viewers.

“That’s a big border out there…the biggest border on the ground.
“Sean Abbott, who has great hands, he’s a tall guy, it’s going to be (very) difficult to clear him.
“I (also) think it’s the third catch (they’ve offered) on that patch of grass, maybe the fourth.
‘Zampa… it was great bowling from him, but not so good batting from the West Indians.’
Warner also confirmed his plans for 2024 as he collected the Man of the Match award.
“I feel refreshed, great energy…I’m excited,” he said. “I want to play in the T20 World Cup (in the US and the Caribbean) and finish there.
“I’m excited, it’s a good journey we’ve been on as a team.”
The second match of the T20 series is on Sunday evening from 7pm at the Adelaide Oval.
