David Warner has crowned Marcus Harris as his successor when he leaves the Australia Test team after the Pakistan series.
Warner, 37, will retire from red-ball cricket next week with the experienced opener for a swan song in Sydney at the SCG.
There has been much debate over the identity of Warner's replacement, with Harris, Cameron Bancroft and Matthew Renshaw all seen as worthy heirs to the embattled Aussie throne.
But Warner believes Harris should give a try in the West Indies series.
Harris, 31, scored a century against Pakistan in a test match last weekend and has played himself into contention, says Warner.

“It's a tough call (and) it's clearly up to the selectors,” he said.
“But from my position, I feel like the person who has completely finished and has been there in the background for a while (is Harris). Harry has been that person who has toured (and) he recently scored that 100 and missed a few more games, but he has always been the person who is next in line.
“So if the selectors show their confidence in him, I'm sure he will come out and play the way he does. You know, he doesn't look much like me.'
Warner added that selectors should opt for an aggressive front-foot batsman as his replacement as he believes this is the reason why he has been at the top of Test cricket for so long.
“I've always played the style of entertaining and putting bums in seats. “I think that's important, giving back and making sure the fans get what they paid for,” he said.

'I think it's important and I think the selectors will continue to do this. We have players like Travis Head, you have Mitch Marsh and Cameron Green, guys who like to chase the ball.
'How are we going to find these guys? You're going to find them in the Big Bash. It will be a courageous call to put someone in the middle, a bit like what they did with me, and experiment.
“I just hope that if they do, that person gets a chance, that he or she gets a good crack and that it doesn't chop and change.”
