David Raya has come under intense criticism since replacing Aaron Ramsdale between the sticks and will come under even more scrutiny after being blamed for two of Luton's goals on Tuesday night.

The Gunners led 2-1 at half-time but quickly lost their lead for the second time of the evening and the second time from a corner.

And all eyes were on Raya after he fluttered to the cross, allowing Elijah Adebayo to head home with ease.

And things got worse for the Spaniard when he let Ross Barkley's tame finish get under him to give the home side a shock lead minutes later.

The Englishman managed to drive through into the penalty area on the left, but his low left shot was close to Raya and lacked power.

About the second goal, match commentator Ally McCoist said: 'Terrible for the goalkeeper. Horrible. Ross Barkley and Luton won't mind though. Neither does Rob Edwards.

'I thought he (Raya) should have done better on the second goal, but he definitely should have done better on the third goal.

'It's close to him, but he has to save that size. You have to save that. I just thought it was a great strength of Barkley.”

Mikel Arteta signed Raya from Brentford this summer and made the controversial decision to make him No.1 in place of Aaron Ramsdale.

The move has divided supporters and Tuesday's events will only intensify the debate.
